The latest issue of GameInformer has word that Midway is working on yet another title in the Mortal Kombat franchise. Mortal Kombat: Armageddon will go back to its roots, unlike the RPGish MK: Shaolin Monks, and will feature the usual blood, gore and violence, a choice of 60 fighters, more than 20 fatality moves, Create a Kombatant mode to make your own character (like Soul Calibur 3), multiplayer and Konquest Mode. More details surely to come in the official announcement, but for now MK: Armageddon is scheduled for somewhere in 2006.

The story for the game was inspired by the H.G. Wells alien invasion classic novel written in 1898, but is retold within the context of a contemporary setting. The viewpoint character is a law student currently serving as a helicopter gunner in the National Guard. The game begins on the fourth day of the Invasion, with the player ferrying a Special Forces team into Downtown Manhattan for a mission that will decide the outcome of the War.

According to GamesIndustry.biz development on SCi's Carmageddon remake has been halted. According to sources at Visual Science work was stopped over 2 weeks ago, but it is not quite certain if this means the project got cancelled, on hold or moving to another developer. Eidos US said there were no plans to bring this title to North American and SCi/Eidos UK could not be reached at this point.

The new version of Carmageddon is due in summer 2005. In addition to this, SCi has a further four products in the prototype phase with planned releases in the 2005 and 2006 financial years. Namco and Todd McFarlane Productions announced today the official name of Mammon, a character known by many "Spawn" enthusiasts for his mysterious appearances in numerous past comic book episodes. Until today, Mammon has been portrayed as a background character that appeared in dark, hidden shadows. Mammon is now slated to take on a much more proactive, even major, role in both the upcoming video game as well as in future episodes of the "Spawn" comic book series, with appearances beginning in issue 133. The video game, "Spawn: Armageddon," is scheduled to release in November 2003 on the PS2, GameCube and Xbox.
