Sierra's Alex Rodberg has been spotted posting information about a new Tribes game at
tribalwar.com forum. (thanks
Blues). Here is the scoop:
I don't think any game can ever be T1 again. Even if we were to recreate T1 in painstaking detail, it wouldn't be as popular as before. Most of you are already past the learning curve, and what made it addictive was moving up that curve.
Looking forward, we must rely on our (and your) ability to discern what was fun and what wasn't about all the Tribes games (and even other games) and end up with a finished product that is both new and familiar at the same time.
I'm confident in the team we have assembled for this daunting task. I can't wait to introduce you to them so we can get fans involved in the process as early as possible. When? When we make the official announcement, sometime next year.

The two additions to Tribes 2 for this new release is the Comp mod and Team Rabbit. These new games have tweaked physics, putting them a little closer to Tribes 1, especially Team Rabbit.

Inspired by the events of August 13th, Dynamix's official demise, Arthur J. Aspromatis set out to find a way to honor the memory of Dynamix and Tribes. What he came back with was a beautifully made 6 1/2 minute video that does just that. The video is available in 2 different formats, .ASF (from Windows Media Encoder v.4.1) and .RM (from RealProducer v.8.0) formats, and 3 different sizes. Head over to
planettribes.com to download the movie and read what he had to say about it.
