Good news for all PS2 fans.
PlayStation2 Era got information from a contact at Rockstar Games that their hailed game of the year title, Grand Theft Auto III will see a sequel on PlayStation 2 by year's end. Apparently the game has been in development for some while now with confirmed development on PS2 and rumored development on Xbox. The cities will be even more functional than GTA3, with characters you see on the street a lot more interactive than what was seen in previous titles.

Microsoft Corp. announced today at the 2002 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that the Xbox™ video game system had one of the most successful launches in video game history. Microsoft sold 1.5 million units in North America between the Nov. 15 launch and the end of calendar year 2001. In addition, the NPD Group Inc. has reported that gamers bought more than three games with every Xbox system, the highest-ever game attach rate for a video game console launch.

Activision, Inc. has today announced that it will be bringing its high-octane rally racer, Race of Champions, to the Nintendo GameCube this fall. Based on the prestigious Michelin Race of Champions, which is held annually in the Canary Islands, the game lets players experience the raw fun and exhilaration of the sport as they lock wits and fenders with some of the top drivers from the world of racing. Race of Champions has not yet been rated by the ESRB/ELSPA.
