US Army Allots $50 Million for New Game Development Program

Last week the US Army already revealed that it was using the America's Army technology to develop a new driving simulator to help wounded service members return to driving independence, but that is not the only product being worked on. According to Stars & Stripes, the US Army will launch a games for training" program in 2010, with a budget of $50 million, to develop a new Game After Ambush, based on a commercial game, and will accommodate a limited number of players in a relatively small virtual battle space.

Yesterday rumors started surfacing that Brothers in Arms developer Gearbox Software was laying off people and that work on SEGA's co-op FPS Aliens: Colonial Marines had been halted. Upon inquiry Gearbox president Randy Pitchford stated that the Aliens game is not canceled, and while there were some layoff they are considered "transformative" and "talent" changes.
