Valve Adds Gift Purchases to Steam

Today Valve introduces the ability to purchase any game on Steam and send it as a gift to anyone in the world. To send a gift, customers simply select one of the games on Steam and then indicate that the purchase is a gift at checkout. Within minutes, an e-card is delivered directly to the recipient's inbox. If the recipient is new to Steam, they'll receive everything they need to get started.

This is not an early/misplaced April Fool's joke; 3D Realms' George Broussard revealed that tomorrow, it will release the first Duke Nukem Forever footage since 2001. At the company Christmas party, some 3D Realms employees surprised attendees with a teaser trailer. The decision was then made to share it with the public, and while it's just a teaser, rest assured that more is coming. Come back tomorrow around noon (CST), 10am (PST), or 7pm Euro time...

Rock Band allows you to perform famous rock music with your friends as a virtual band using drum, bass/lead guitar and vocals, as well as online. Harmonix has released another three individual downloadable song on Xbox Live, Radiohead's My Iron Lung, Weezer's Buddy Holly, and a cover of Pretenders' Brass in Pocket (160 points each).

Currently only scheduled for release in Japan, Populous is considered one of the first games in the strategy/god games genre since its conception on the Amiga in the late 80s. EA is bringing the classic back on the NDS making use of the dual screen, new god powers and multiplayer for up to 4 players.

2008 E3 Media & Business Summit Going Back to L.A.

The Entertainment Software Association announced today that it is moving its E3 Media & Business Summit from last year's Santa Monica location, back to the L.A. Convention Center, home of the former E3. Taking place from July 15 – 17, 2008, E3M&BS will still be a trade-only event, unlike E for All, and will be open to ESA members and outsiders alike. Similar to last year, attendance at all events, meetings, and demonstrations will be by invitation only
