'Peggle' (NDS) Officially Announced

Revealed at the CGA yesterday, PopCap officially announced Peggle is coming the the NDS, developed by Lumines studio Q Entertinament. Peggle combines elements of pinball, pachinko and pool where players fire a silver ball from the top of the screen, relying on the laws of physics to propel the ball downwards while ricocheting off orange and blue ‘pegs’.

Bungie Developing 'Halo 3' Multiplayer Content, Three New Titles

After Microsoft decided to mysteriously pull Bungie's Halo announcement from E3, the now indie studio has confirmed it's working on new Halo 3 multiplayer content, as well as "three distinct projects, some familiar, some not." Fans hoping for a big announcement at PAX can relax; Bungie said only the Halo 3 content will be shown, since the other titles are too still far off.

'God of War' (PS2/PSP) Movie Gets Script And Director

We haven't really heard news on the God of War movie for a few years, ever since Universal secured the movie rights from Sony. Set in ancient Greece, God of War follows the battles of the warrior Kratos, who tackles mythological beasts including Medusa, Cyclops and the Hydra on his quest to find Pandora's Box and destroy Ares, the god of war. The movie script was written by David Self, known for Road to Perdition, and will be produced by Brett Ratner, known for the Rush Hour movies, X-Men, and various Prison Break episodes. There has no date been set to start shooting, let alone an estimated theatrical launch.

PopCap Bringing Games to NDS, Including 'Peggle'

Earlier this year PopCap denied it was bringing Peggle to NDS, but last month a new office was opened in Shanghai to bring several of its hit titles, including Peggle, to Asian audiences. At the Casual Connect conference in Seattle PopCap's Mark Cochrane confirmed that Q Entertainment, known for Lumines, is developing Peggle for NDS, scheduled for later this year. POpCap is also bringing two hidden object games to NDS, Amazing Adventures: The Forgotten Ruins and Mystery P.I.: Portrait of a Thief.

Ubisoft Financial Result Shows Casual Sales Boost

Ubisoft's Q1 2008 financial result reveals that sales are up 25.8% (€169 million compared to last year's €134 million) driven mainly by Assassin’s Creed, Haze, Rainbow Six Vegas 2 as well as its Games For Everyone brand (Petz, Imagine and MyCoach series) which saw a boost of 20% compared to last year. Also revealed was the Splinter Cell delay, which we reported on earlier today.

Sony has rolled out new PlayStation Store content starting with Siren: Blood Curse (3 bundles of 4 episodes @ $14.99/ea & full game SKU for $39.99), 1942: Joint Strike ($9.99), GH III: Guitar Virtuoso Pack ($6.25) , Rock Band's NIN/Shinedown trackpack, and a demo for PixelJunk Eden. There are of course also the usual game/movie trailers, E3 trailers, PS3 themes and wallpapers. Telltale Games is working on an episodic game based on Wallace & Gromit, Aardman Animations' animated film series. In Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures you will be able to play as either the cheese-loving, hair-brained inventor Wallace or his long-suffering loyal pooch, Gromit, engaging in zany entrepreneurial schemes and tinkering with kooky contraptions, featuring more physical and situation-based comedy than previous games in the franchise. An official announcement is expected next week.
