Battles in the game can take place both in the air and on the ground, with high-speed movements through the field and massive attacks that can be executed with simple controls. Dragon Ball Z: Bukuu Tougeki also has two game modes: story mode includes a scenario for all of the characters in the game, with mixes of the original manga storyline and newly written scripts, while team battle mode allows up to three characters (depending on their character levels) to for a single team. Weak characters tend to have a lower level than stronger characters. For example, a normal Goku would be a Level 1 character, while a Super Saiyan Goku would be a Level 2 character. The player can form a team using up to four level points to select their characters. There is also a mode to play against other gamers in either single battle mode or team battle mode, with the use of the GBA cable.
Dragon Ball Z: Bukuu Tougeki is currently 80 percent complete and scheduled for release in Japan on May 26.
