At last weekend's Wizard World Texas event, Top Cow Entertainment's Phil Hester, who is currently working on new episodes of The Darkness comic together with artist Michael Broussard, revealed that a sequel to 2K Games' action/horror title is currently in the early stages of development over at Starbreeze. A platinum edition of The Darkness video game ($29.99) will hit stores next summer.

Based on the best-selling Top Cow comic book, The Darkness casts players as Jackie Estacado, a fearless Mafia hitman for the Franchetti crime family who is suddenly possessed by the terrifying and spectacular powers of The Darkness. Throughout the game, players must learn to control and harness The Darkness power in order to overthrow the vicious mob boss and fulfill their destiny.
