'Hitman Absolution' (ALL) Adds Realism With Advanced Cloth Physics

by Rainier on Aug. 31, 2011 @ 11:18 a.m. PDT

Hitman: Absolution follows Agent 47, a cold-blooded assassin, who takes on his most dangerous contract to date. Betrayed by those he once trusted — and now hunted by the police — he suddenly finds himself at the center of a dark conspiracy and must embark on a personal journey through a corrupt and twisted world.

Showcasing IO Interactive’s new proprietary Glacier 2 technology, the game has been built from the ground up. Boasting a cinematic story, distinctive art direction and highly original game design, Hitman Absolution combines much-loved classic gameplay with completely new features never seen before in the Hitman franchise.

CloakWorks' advanced cloth simulation technology, Shroud, has been licensed by IO Interactive for Hitman: Absolution.

“Shroud allowed us to reach new creative heights with Hitman: Absolution. It was quick and easy to implement into our engine and tool chain, and it really helps Agent 47 look good in his suit...and you know how good Hitman likes to look”, said Tore Blystadt, Game Director of Hitman: Absolution.

“IO Interactive is committed to producing cutting-edge AAA games, as evidenced by its formidable back catalog and success at this year’s E3,” said Joe van den Heuvel, founder and President of CloakWorks.” Shroud will help the team realize its vision for Hitman: Absolution by giving a new level of realism to the graphics.”
