'Dungeon Defenders II' Expands Player Based Defense Council - Screens

by Rainier on Oct. 21, 2014 @ 4:59 p.m. PDT

Dungeon Defenders II throws action-RPG and tower defense gameplay into the proverbial blender to create a seamless mix of leveling, looting and high-action territorial combat for casual and core players alike, now with a cooperative and competitive mode.

In Dungeon Defenders II, the land of Etheria has been invaded by the Old Ones and players must rally, alone or with friends, against the invasion. The game features brand new combat and defense placement systems that synchronize the roleplaying, action, and tower defense elements of the franchise for even more strategic gameplay. New defense and ability interactions make for exciting, emergent gameplay and new environmental traps increase variety and strategic planning throughout each level in the game.

The competitive mode is a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena set in the Dungeon Defenders universe. Together, 5 players will take up arms to defend their towers against the opposing team. This fast-paced, streamlined MOBA aims for a shorter learning curve and more rpg-esque take on the genre.

There’s some other things like playverse, cross-platform play and all that jazz.

Trendy Entertainment announced the expansion of the “Defense Council,” an advisory board that allows players with an interest in the development of Dungeon Defenders II to provide early, focused feedback directly to the development team. A limited number of Council seats have been made available and are now on sale, on a first-come first-serve basis.

New members to the Defense Council will have exclusive access to play the pre-alpha build of Dungeon Defenders II, and will receive regular patch updates along with links to build notes so they can see how things are constantly evolving thanks to their help.

New Defense Council members will also receive a digital package containing a number of exclusive one-time items and benefits, including:

  • A Steam Code for the pre-alpha build of Dungeon Defenders II
  • Access to the exclusive Defense Council forums on the new Dungeon Defenders community site, allowing Councilors to communicate directly with Trendy about the game and its direction
  • Four exclusive Hero Embellishments
  • An exclusive Tavern Item – a Council Demon Lord Trophy
  • The player’s name in the game’s credits

In addition, players that upgrade to the Co-Op Pack will also receive a Dungeon Defenders II Friend Code, plus two copies of both the Dungeon Defenders Collection and Dungeon Defenders Eternity, and an extra exclusive goodie.

The Council’s expansion is not the Early Access launch of Dungeon Defenders II. Instead, it is a limited opportunity for players to help craft and influence the development of the game before it’s ready for its full Early Access launch. The Defense Council is only available for PC.

Dungeon Defenders II will be FREE, free-to-play not be pay to win.
