'Surgeon Simulator 2' Reveals Clinical Trials Mode, Begins Next Week - Trailer

by Rainier on Nov. 4, 2020 @ 10:33 a.m. PST

Surgeon Simulator 2 promises to inject a delirious dose of adrenaline straight into the heart of the original, cranking everything up to a whole new level.

Things Have Got Seriously… Out of Hand!

No… you don’t need an eye transplant. Surgeon Simulator is back!

Surgeon Simulator was originally released in 2013 and saw players step into the shoes of Nigel Burke - a would-be surgeon with a less-than-conventional toolkit - as he performed terrifying transplants in theatre, high-pressure procedures in an ambulance, and anti-gravitational operations in space!

Surgery remains at the heart of the Surgeon Simulator 2 experience, but believe-you-us, the sequel will be a vastly expanded offering… promising true co-operation, at the very least.

The release of Surgeon Simulator 2 is a landmark for medical simulations in that it allows four trainees to (mal)practice together; whether that’s making sure all incisions are executed with the utmost precision, delivering the necessary injections in a timely manner, or disposing of diseased tissue in accordance to the prevailing safety standards. Every role is open to all trainees, who have the option of teaming up with like-minded professionals, or going it alone for the ultimate challenge of unassisted operation.

Users will be fully immersed in the challenging realities of surgery thanks to a compelling story created by Rhianna Pratchett (Tomb Raider, Mirror’s Edge), that ensures everything from hospital orientation and patient safety through to complex operations and moral problems, are delivered to users in realistic scenarios based on the experiences of doctors. Common trainee questions such as, "How did I get here?" and "Why are you making me perform surgery?" will be addressed in the safe and nurturing environment that only the highest quality simulation product can offer.

In the wake of competitive surgery going global, Bossa Studios has today announced a series of ridiculous in-game challenges are heading to Surgeon Simulator 2.

The latest update to the game, Clinical Trials, is a set of 5 levels released over 5 days with 5 outlandish prizes to be won, including a literal heart of gold trophy.

The Clinical Trials update continues the era of global competitive surgery that kicked off last month. October 15th saw real NHS doctors and clinical staff competing in speed heart-transplants within Surgeon Simulator 2 to raise money for charity. This was closely followed by the game’s Surgical Showdowns update, a suite of new competitive levels designed by some of the cleverest (and strangest) minds at Bossa.

Now, the studio is looking for any and all enthusiastic subjects to take on this week of fiendishly competitive challenges. The Clinical Trials update involves the following challenges released daily from November 9th until November 13th:

  • Cash Grab - Grab a coin and slot it into the Penny Pusher - how many coins can you win before your stash runs out?
  • Hand Ball-oon  - One hand, one goal, many many balloons. Grab as many as you can and shoot them in the goal before the time runs out.
  • Super Sausage Shredder - Powerful medical machinery meets hotdog eating contest. How many sausages can you shred in the Super Sausage Shredder?
  • Go The Limb-it! - Lobbing legs and tossing arms. Just another day at the lab. Grab a limb from the conveyor belt, and toss it through the chute to score!
  • Tower Shower  - Stack as many cardboard boxes as you can. Sounds simple? Trust us, it’s not.

Side effects of participation may include random bursts of laughter, periods of addiction, and a range of sweet, sweet prizes, including headsets, exclusive merchandise, official branded medals, and of course, the grand trophy itself - a literal heart of gold (well, gold-finished bronze, if you’re being pedantic). The risks are low, and the rewards are great.

All willing participants are advised to get their sharpest scalpels and spongiest sweatbands at the ready.

How to Enter:

  • Load up Surgeon Simulator 2 and dive into our Clinical Trials levels from the lobby terminal.
  • You can practice each Trial as much as you want and then record a video of your fastest attempt. (Here’s some tips on recording).
  • Upload your video to us using this form.
  • You can use the form multiple times for multiple Trials. Make sure you submit all your scores before 11:59PM GMT on Sunday 15th November.

Full terms and conditions can be found here. All willing participants are advised to get their sharpest scalpels and spongiest sweatbands at the ready. Side effects of participation may include random bursts of laughter, periods of addiction and dismissal from medical associations.

With all-new heart-in-your-mouth operations, 4-player co-op, and the bonafide Bossa Labs Creation Mode, get ready to explore an entire medical facility of wonder in this fully fleshed-out follow up!

Surgeon Simulator 2 is available for PC (Epic Games Store) at £19.99 / $24.99.
