'Pokémon Scarlet' And 'Pokémon Violet' Reveals New Features, Characters, Pokémon And OLED Model - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Sept. 7, 2022 @ 12:05 p.m. PDT

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet take an evolutionary step in the Pokémon series, letting trainers can explore an open world where various towns with no borders blend seamlessly into the wilderness.

Pokémon can be seen everywhere in this wide-open world—in the skies, in the sea, and on the streets.

As one of the main characters, Trainers will jump into the world of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet to begin their adventure, where they will have a different outfit depending on which game they are playing.

Trainers will then choose either Sprigatito, the Grass Cat Pokémon, Fuecoco, the Fire Croc Pokémon, or Quaxly, the Duckling Pokémon to be their first partner Pokémon before setting off on their journey.

After their release, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will be able to link with Pokémon HOME, a service that allows Trainers to keep their entire Pokémon collection in one place. By linking these games with Pokémon HOME, Trainers will be able to have Pokémon from other regions adventure alongside them in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.

The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo revealed more details about the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet video games. Multiple story paths, new features, new characters, and more Pokémon from the Paldea region were announced.

On Nov. 4, the Nintendo Switch – OLED Model: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Edition system will be available at select stores, featuring art inspired by the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games (sold separately). The Legendary Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon are featured on the glossy front side of the white system’s dock, and a design inspired by the series’ iconic Poké Ball is featured on the back. The back of the system itself is adorned with special illustrations of the three Pokémon you can choose as your first partners in the game – Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly – along with illustrations of symbols players may recognize as they journey through the games. The Joy-Con controllers, which match the main colors of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, feature the school emblems of the Naranja Academy and Uva Academy that appear in the respective games.

Nintendo Switch – OLED Model features a vibrant 7-inch OLED screen, a wide adjustable stand, a dock with a wired LAN port (LAN cable sold separately), 64 GB of internal storage, a portion of which is reserved for use by the system, and enhanced audio in handheld and tabletop mode. The Nintendo Switch – OLED Model system can be played in three modes: TV mode, played on a TV while the system is docked; handheld mode, when the Joy-Con controllers are attached for portable play; and tabletop mode for on-the-go multiplayer gaming sessions.

The Nintendo Switch – OLED Model: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Edition system will be available in stores and in the My Nintendo Store at a suggested retail price of $359.99.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, are now available for pre-order at select retailers, in the My Nintendo Store and in Nintendo eShop. Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet Double Pack will also be available as a packaged version or as a digital downloadable version at a suggested retail price of $119.99, and will include both Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, as well as additional in-game bonuses to help players on their Pokémon Trainer journey.

Your Own Story, Woven Through Your Treasure Hunt

In Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, players are enrolled in a school that will host an independent study project themed, “A Treasure Hunt.” Three stories will be woven into the player’s adventures while traversing the sprawling Paldea region:

  • Victory Road: Players will go to Gyms in different locations to achieve Champion Rank.
  • Path of Legends: Upperclassmen Arven will join the player in search of rare ingredients called Herba Mystica.
  • Starfall Street: Players will challenge Team Star, a group of delinquents causing trouble for the school.

These stories are set in an open world teeming with Pokémon and people to meet, so players can determine which path to take and explore however they desire.

Let’s Go! A Handy Feature for Exploring the Paldea Region

Players can have one Pokémon out and walking with them in the Paldea region’s great outdoors. When they have a Pokémon exploring with them in the field, players can use the “Let’s Go!” feature to send that Pokémon off in the direction they indicate. The Pokémon the player sends out then independently picks up items in the area and even has Auto Battles with nearby Pokémon.
