'Battlefield 6' Details Changes Coming In Year 2/Season 5

by Rainier on Oct. 1, 2026 @ 5:28 p.m. PDT

Battlefield 6 is the next installment in the long-running Battlefield franchise, bringing a new all-out warfare experience.

In Battlefield 6, the series’ incredible blend of visceral combat, epic warfare, and player freedom returns. Blow through walls and bring down buildings for a tactical advantage or take to the skies in white-knuckle dogfights. Take part in a war filled with tanks, fighter jets, and sweeping combat at a grand scale but remember: the deadliest weapon is your squad.

Witness the vicious path of destruction carved by Pax Armata, the world’s leading private military company. PAX pursues the destruction of NATO and its allies, stopping at nothing to uphold their motto: “Our Protection, Your Peace.” Fight in high-intensity infantry combat. Demolish your environment for a strategic advantage. In a war of tanks, fighter jets, and massive combat arsenals, your squad is the deadliest weapon.

The year is 2027. The world is on the edge of chaos. After a high-profile assassination shocks the world, major European countries have left NATO, while the US and its allies grapple with the fallout. A massive private military corporation unafraid to cross lines, with deep pockets and the latest tech, looks to fill the power vacuum. This army is PAX ARMATA. What’s left of NATO is in tatters, wounded and battered. This is the world of Battlefield 6.

Battlefield 6 introduces a host of new features, including the all-new Kinesthetic Combat System, which brings enhancements to movement and gunplay. This gives players an unprecedented level of mobility, offering new tactical options such as Drag and Revive to pull teammates out of danger and back from the brink, and mounting weapons on walls to reduce recoil.

The iconic class system returns better than ever, with Assault, Recon, Support, and Engineer, empowering players to define their role on the battlefield. The four roles have been enhanced, designed to empower players to push their team towards victory, each with class-specific gadgets, signature weapons and dedicated training. Destruction also returns, but enhanced to offer an unparalleled level of freedom, letting players transform the combat zone, to create new paths, flank enemies and dominate the battle.

Lock & load for the ultimate all-out warfare experience.

Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios revealed new significant updates for Battlefield 6 and Battlefield REDSEC players, focusing on some of the core gameplay changes coming to both experiences.

Season 5 marks the start of Year 2 for Battlefield 6 and REDSEC, following an incredible first year. The team continues to work closely with players through Battlefield Labs and live game feedback, to ensure the game continues to evolve.

LOOKING BACK ON ONE YEAR

This October Battlefield 6 turns one year old. Since then, we've worked closely with players through Battlefield Labs and live game feedback to evolve and improve the Battlefield experience. Over the last year, we've added four seasons of content, brought back fan-favorite maps like Railway to Golmud and Tsuru Reef, and introduced Naval Warfare. We've also spent that time improving the core Battlefield experience across Battlefield 6 and REDSEC, including combat.

That work has included faster progression, ongoing work for balance between land, air, and naval combat, and Aim Assist tuning that more closely matches the feel of the Open Beta.

As shared in our Battlefield Combat - Gunplay update, we’ve also adjusted recoil and body damage multipliers to make close-range firefights and Time-To-Kill feel more rewarding while placing greater emphasis on precision at longer ranges and refining the “Sweet Spot” range for each sniper rifle.

And we’re not done yet.

SEASON 5 EVOLUTIONS

Season 5 marks the start of Year 2 for Battlefield 6 and REDSEC.

A few weeks ago, we announced the return of the Open + Elite Series, and the arrival of Rapid Royale, a new way to experience REDSEC that shortens match time and ratchets up the intensity. We'll be sharing much more about Season 5 shortly, but today we're taking an early look at some of the combat and gameplay changes we're currently exploring this season.

As always, everything discussed here is subject to change. Certain features and fixes that don't meet our goals during Battlefield Labs testing may be adjusted, delayed, or removed based on player feedback.

Battlefield 6 and REDSEC Changes

We have several planned changes this season that apply to both Battlefield 6 and REDSEC’s core gameplay.

  • Changes to Vehicle Health Regeneration & Damage to better reward infantry for good positioning and flanking maneuvers.
  • Anti-Air System Changes to create a stronger interplay between Anti-Air and aircraft. Such changes include making the cannons for mobile Anti-Air more effective against aircraft and raising the skill requirement for laser designators by requiring users to more consistently track targets in order to maintain lock.
  • Additional Gunplay Changes include an attachment tuning pass to improve gameplay diversity and a polish pass on animations for certain weapons, gadgets, and poses.
  • Further Vehicle Balance Changes to make specific vehicles better embody their intended role on the battlefield. These include:
    • Decreasing the Little Bird’s splash damage against infantry
    • Increasing the Rate of Fire for secondary turrets (and speeding up how quickly they overheat)
    • Main Battle Tank (MBT) Munitions have been tuned to be more effective against the kinds of targets they’re intended to be used against
    • Missiles have received a balance pass across the board to ensure they’re effective but not overpowered
    • Air Vehicle Resupply Pad Cooldowns are now vehicle-class specific (example: a jet can resupply immediately after a helicopter without waiting for a shared pad timer).

COMING IN 2027

Season 5 is only the beginning of our second year of content and evolution. Throughout 2027, we’ll continue delivering new content for Battlefield 6 and REDSEC while refining the core systems that define the Battlefield experience.

We're already exploring several areas for future updates. That includes making vehicle gameplay even more immersive, continuing to expand our gunplay systems, and we’re reviewing all of the gadget and vehicle-related explosives to ensure the size, power, and effectiveness of those explosives are balanced with the rest of the game.

As part of the gunplay evolution, we’re testing an improved firing range and performing visual and animation updates across the arsenal.  We’re also evaluating the balance and power of bolt-action sniper rifles as well as the ability of players to fight back against those weapons.

We'll have much more to share about all of this in the months ahead.

Whether you joined us at launch last year or you've been playing since Battlefield 1942, thank you for being part of this community. Your feedback continues to shape the game every season and help us make Battlefield better together with every update.

We can’t wait for you to experience Season 5 and beyond in 2027.

We’ll see you on the Battlefield.
