Emberville is an action/adventure RPG goes beyond the conventional expectations of similar “farm & fight’’ games, with a simple-yet-deep combat system, an inherited skill leveling system, and challenging boss fights, and the new gameplay trailer offers players a glimpse of what to expect.
Customization is key in Emberville. From cross-class combat skills to a full creative building area, players are encouraged to play their way. Building on the two-button combat system, Emberville offers a weapon-bound combo system in addition to class-related skills. Unlock new combos for a variety of weapons and chain different types of attacks to unleash devastating strikes on enemies. Learning skills from leveling multiple classes allows the player to tailor the active combat class for a unique playstyle.
The creative area gives players a location to place buildings, decorations, farms, crafting equipment, and more, with many items and buildings offering further customization options. To ease inventory management between tasks like farming, fishing, building, and combat, Emberville features a dynamic UI system, which adjusts the HUD seamlessly when approaching areas for each task.
Emberville will offer players an ambitious combination of game systems and mechanics that go far beyond the traditional staples of basic resource gathering and combat that “fight and farm” games are well known for. The leveling system in the game will let players not only swap between different classes, but also allow them to inherit active and passive abilities from that leveled class into a new one, which will allow for flexibility and creativity as each player can find a combination that is unique to their playstyle.
Independent developer Cygnus Cross has made the difficult decision to delay Emberville's Steam Early Access.
Originally planned for October 27th, Emberville will now launch into Early Access on January 7th, 2027.
While the delay is very short notice, it enables the team to give players a more polished and satisfying start to their adventures in Emberville. The team received a ton of valuable feedback from the Steam Next Fest Demo and needs a little more time to implement it for the Early Access launch version. The January 7th launch will also include the additions that were initially planned for Emberville’s first major post-launch update.
Here is more from the team about the delay:
Hey everyone,
We know this is very short notice, with launch just a day away. After extensive discussions within the team, we have made the difficult decision to postpone Emberville’s Early Access release.
Many of you have played our Steam Next Fest demo and shared your feedback. This means a great deal to us, and we immediately started planning more improvements. However, some of the improvements we want to make are systems changes that can't be done quickly. Reworking bow combat, for example, would take more time than we had prior to our Early Access release, even though the team is working around the clock.
After carefully considering our options, we have decided to move the release date and include some essential improvements in the Early Access launch build.
We understand that this will be disappointing for those of you who were ready to buy the game. While we could have simply released the game now, we feel that it wouldn’t be up to our standards and to your high expectations of us.
We also want to be clear about what we are working toward. Our team has a clear vision for how Emberville will develop throughout Early Access. On January 7th, our goal is to deliver an experience that shows what makes the game distinctive, establishes its core gameplay, and offers a compelling glimpse of how the game will grow throughout Early Access.
Once Early Access begins, we will follow up with regular updates, both large and small. We will continue adding content, listening to your ideas and suggestions, and building Emberville together with you.
Thank you for your support, patience and understanding,
- The Emberville Team
