Each traveler can use a distinct Path Action, a specialized way of achieving objectives and interacting with people you encounter. The warrior can "challenge" people to a duel, whereas the dancer can "allure" others to follow her, even into battle! Enjoy the freedom to choose your own path while experiencing the story through the role you play. Combat revolves around the Boost system, a fusion of traditional turn-based battling and modern enhancements. Each turn, build up BP that can be spent to dramatically increase your strength or provide aid. Identifying when to Boost may just be the key to victory.

On the Octopath Traveler series’ 8^th anniversary, Square Enix announced that Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II will be launching on Nintendo Switch 2 on Oct. 1, 2026.

Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II are now available for pre-order digitally and physically as individual games and digitally only as a bundle.

The HD-2D RPG series, which first made its debut on Nintendo Switch in 2018 and has since shipped and sold more than 7 million copies worldwide, has been optimized from its original release on Nintendo Switch for Nintendo Switch 2 with improved resolution and frame rate for both games.
