'Thveit' Is A Storybook Norse City Builder, Coming To PC In 2027, Early Access Soon - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on July 21, 2026 @ 8:00 a.m. PDT

Thveit is a storybook Norse-inspired city builder where changing seasons, ancient beliefs, and encounters with folklore shape the fate of every settlement.

Build a storybook Norse settlement where every season leaves its mark and the old myths still walk the land. Farm, craft, trade, and prepare for winter as your people learn to live beside folklore creatures and ancient gods. The home you build, and the beings you welcome, decide what kind of living myth your village becomes.

Thveit feels like stepping into a warm, illustrated Norse folktale and being asked to build a home inside it. At heart, it is a wholesome settlement builder: raise homesteads, tend fields and animals, watch cats settle beside the hearth, and guide a handful of people toward a thriving life. Yet the forests, rivers, mountains, and burial grounds are alive with older inhabitants. Folklore creatures may arrive as wary strangers, troublesome neighbors, or unexpected friends, and the way you treat them can change the shape and fortunes of the village.

That comfort is balanced by a gentle but meaningful sense of danger. Seasons reshape the work of the settlement, winter exposes every weakness, and storms or an unforgiving landscape can punish careless preparation. The old gods are not distant legends. They watch how your people live, rewarding devotion with favor and answering neglect or offense with trials of their own. Beyond the firelight, hostile spirits and restless dead still linger, giving the cozy world a constant undercurrent of mystery. The result is a city builder about warmth, wonder, and coexistence, where even the strangest being may eventually become part of the family.

Thveit begins with a handful of settlers and a wild procedural island. Build homesteads, farms, workshops, storage, docks, and places of worship. Gather what the land provides, turn harvests into food and goods, manage work and comfort, and prepare the village for the changing seasons.

As the settlement grows, another world begins to reveal itself. Giant tracks cross the forest edge, strange lights move over the water, ravens linger above sacred places, and restless animals sense what your settlers cannot. Study these signs, listen to stories, make offerings, and explore the island to learn the customs of the beings that share the land.

Players will meet many creatures and supernatural beings drawn from Norse and Scandinavian folklore. Some need shelter, offerings, protected places, or respectful distance. Treat them well and they may become neighbors, helpers, guardians, or sacred presences. Trolls can lend their strength, cats may warn of unseen danger, and spirits can change the fortunes of rivers, farms, forests, and graves.

Seasonal survival ties the settlement together. Spring brings growth and discovery, summer favors building and voyages, autumn rewards preparation, and winter tests every storehouse, hearth, relationship, and promise. Trade and exploration can return with new settlers, rare resources, relics, old songs, and discoveries capable of changing the village’s future.

Over time, the settlement earns a reputation through what it produces, how it treats the land, and the beings it chooses to welcome. There is no single prescribed story. Each village becomes its own tale of craftsmanship, survival, belief, and living myth.

Thveit will be coming to Steam Early Access soon and will remain so until late 2027.

“The Early Access version of Thveit is fully playable and players can already experience the core city-building gameplay, settlement management, resource production, and seasonal progression that form the foundation of the game.”

“The full version of Thveit is planned to include additional content, features, improvements, and polish beyond the Early Access version. Community feedback will play an important role in shaping future additions, alongside continued balancing, bug fixing, and overall improvements to the player experience.”
