About Judy

As WP's managing editor, I edit review and preview articles, attempt to keep up with the frantic pace of Rainier's news posts, and keep our reviewers on deadline, which is akin to herding cats. When I have a moment to myself and don't have my nose in a book, I like to play action/RPG, adventure and platforming games.

19. 'Bayonetta 3' (Switch)

by Judy on Feb. 15, 2021 @ 12:00 a.m. PST

A new-look Bayonetta returns to battle foes with her signature Witch Time! This time, she’ll wield her new Demon Masquerade ability to channel the power of demons and engage in larger-than-life action.

Cody Medellin: We've had this on our lists for quite some time now, and even though all we've ever seen is a logo, we're still hopeful. The duo of games has been excellent for getting the Devil May Cry experience on Nintendo consoles, and the news that another one is on the way is good for action fans all around. Here's hoping we finally hear more about the game soon.

Adam Pavlacka: It's been more than three years since Bayonetta 3 was announced, but given the success of the first two games, I don't think anyone is worried that Platinum is going to drop the ball. Hideki Kamiya has been pretty tight-lipped so far, but he did tell Famitsu last month that Bayonetta was progressing well. If he's starting to talk to the press, then we should start hearing (and seeing) more details later this year.

David Silbert: Few games can rival the sleek, sexy action of a Platinum title. The Japanese studio has put out some stellar releases in recent years, from Nier: Automata to Astral Chain, but Bayonetta remains the team's crown jewel. While it remains to be seen whether Bayonetta 3 will grace Switch screens in 2021, the prospect alone is enough to have us excited.
