7. 'Street Fighter VI' (PS5, PS4, XSX, PC)

With more ways than ever to play, Street Fighter 6 represents the next evolution of the Street Fighter series.

Chris "Atom" DeAngelus: Street Fighter VI is shaping up to be a very interesting beast. Hopping further into the future, it brings back a lot of beloved cast members in newer and older incarnations, along with an art style upgrade that gives the game more flavor than Street Fighter V. The fights have been completely revamped around a new drive gauge, which is used for everything from parries to special moves, and it makes meter management more important than ever. It's also the latest entry in the biggest name in fighting games, so it's going to be exciting to see how the community grows around it.

Cody Medellin: The beta that was released late last year showed that the core fighting game remains in the top tier in the 2D realm. The choice of characters aside, the combat was fluid, and the return of some past concessions to get newcomers acclimated goes a long way to getting more people into the fighting game scene. Yet it is all the extra stuff that intrigues us the most. From the open world to the character creation system to the presence of old games you can play inside of this one, it looks like it's trying to become more than a standard fighting game. Die-hard fans are already happy that the core game is strong, but the extra stuff puts it over the top — if it can be pulled off right.

Claudio Meira: I'm a big fighting game fan, so the Street Fighter series is among my favorites. Street Fighter 6 seems to be going in the right direction. It features a lot of mechanics that are easy to learn but difficult to master. The huge effort in providing a solid single-player experience is a plus.

Adam Pavlacka: The latest iteration of Capcom's seminal fighting game franchise promises to change the way we think about online play. Sure, the core fighting engine looks and plays great, but the real draw is the innovative lobby system that mixes the classic arcade experience with modern day esports. Specifics are going to matter, but the potential for local and regional scenes to happen virtually (and at scale) could change the way we think of competitive fighting games. Want to look over the shoulder of your favorite player, as they're practicing? You can do that here.
