While similar in gameplay, the new game has a darker fictional setting, more depth in certain areas, new features, is less linear, has a more replayable world with secret unlockable areas, an ultra-challenging difficulty mode balanced for team play, and shooter-style rapid healing when you're out of combat to reduce dependency on potions.
