PlayStation Network is Going Down

Sony Europe announced that on May 8th, 2007, its PlayStation Network will be temporarily going down for approximately 3 hours, from 17h to 20h, for maintenance. People who are actively playing games at that time will be able to proceed, but connecting between 17h and 20h will not be possible.

In an interview with eWeek, Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices Division President Robbie Bach predicted that the Xbox will become profitable during the course of 2008, "It's a business that will be profitable next year—we'll make money next year and that will be the first time, which is pretty exciting." In the subsequent years Microsoft then expect to actually make money off their console endeavor.

According to distributor sources LucasArts is working on bringing both LEGO Star Wars titles to the Wii bundled as LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga, including reworked controls for the Wiimote, as well as Thrillville and a billiards game Pool Party. While waving the Wiimote as a lightsaber would be cool, it seems odd that LucasArts is bringing both titles to the Wii, as the first one was published by Eidos.

For each dollar you spend you will get 1% ($0.01) of it credited to your $14.99 monthly charges through a point system. The card is still a regular credit card, so charges apply, and the plastic will feature graphics from the game.

Microsoft Looking to Buy Yahoo ... Again

While Yahoo and Microsoft declined to comment, the New York Post claims to have received info from inside sources that Microsoft is once again looking to acquire Yahoo. Last year both companies were in prolonged talks, but nothing materialized. But the NYP says Microsoft has intensified its pursuit of a deal with Yahoo!, especially with Google breathing down its neck, and being outbid on recent prospects like DoubleClick and AOL.
