Microsoft Game Studios will partner with Academy Award-winning writer, director and producer Peter Jackson, and Academy Award-winning screenwriter Fran Walsh to establish Wingnut Interactive, a studio dedicated to the creation of world-class interactive entertainment. Two projects are already in the pipeline, one in collaboration with Bungie, set in the Halo universe, and the second will be an all new IP.

Quazal announced today that it has joined Epic Games’ Integrated Partners Program for Unreal Engine 3. Rendez-Vous and Spark! have been fully integrated into Unreal Engine 3 and is now available for licensing directly from Quazal.

A little while ago Microsoft sent a community mod team a cease and desist order for their Halo based Halogen mod for C&C without much clarification. Today at the X06 briefing it has been revealed why. Microsoft and Bungie are working with Ensemble Studios, known for Age of Empires series, on Halo Wars for the PC and Xbox 360.

Microsoft announced that DOOM will be available tonight for download on XBLA for 800 points. The game brings legendary DOOM mayhem to gamers, who for the first time ever can relive the classic demon-blasting fragfest, including the original four-episode, single-player game, four-player split screen (co-op & DM) and 4-player co-op and deathmatch over Xbox Live.

SCi said the new Tomb Raider and Hitman titles helped it to swing back to profitability, as its its core earnings reached $54.58 million in the year to June 30, with a pretax profit of 179.1 million. SCi said that Sony's recent decision to delay the European launch of the PS3 until March 2007 has no affect as it has no plans to release any game on the platform until 2008.
