NCsoft Corporation has signed a licensing contract with Chinese online game operator The9 to release NCsoft’s online role-playing game Guild Wars in China. The contract will give The9 exclusive rights to provide Guild Wars online game services within mainland China for three years.

'Rome: Total War - Alexander' Revealed

Creative Assembly is not only working on Total War Medieval II, but also an official expansion pack for the original Rome: Total War, according to a preview on C&VG. The addon will feature six new historical battles, all playable in multiplayer, four new factions (Alexander's Macedonian army, The Persians, The Indians and the Barbarians) and roughly 50 new units, such as Theban Sacred band, Indian Elephants, Persian immortals and Indian naked female archers.

'Heroes of Might & Magic V Limited Edition' Announced

Ubisoft today announced a Heroes of Might and Magic V limited edition, which will not only include a soundtrack, HOMM 5 on DVD, screens, official artwork and illustrations, exclusive maps and a unique hero, but also full versions of HoM&M III and IV. All of the above will be available for a suggested retail price of $59.99 at your local retailer in May 2006.

On Wednesday Apple unveiled new software that allows Intel-based Macs to run Microsoft's Windows XP software. The computer maker said its new "Boot Camp" software is available as a download beginning Wednesday. It allows users with a Windows XP installation disc to install Microsoft's OS on an Intel-based Mac computer.

Lucent Technologies Sues Microsoft For Patent Infringement

In something that looks eerily familiar to Sony's legal woes with Immersion, The Register is reporting that Lucent is going to court with Microsoft for alleged unauthorized usage of its MPEG2 decoder in the Xbox 360. Back in 2003 Lucent had already tried to sue Microsoft for the same reason, but was unsuccessful due to a technicality (typo in the patent's wording), which has since been adjusted. The complaint was filed with the US District Court in San Diego on March 28.
