Electronic Arts announced today the North American release of The Lord of the Rings, The Two Towers video game for the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system and revealed plans to bring this highly-anticipated title to the Xbox video game system from Microsoft and Nintendo GameCube later this year. The Nintendo Game Boy Advance version will ship on Tuesday, November 12.

DreamCatcher Interactive announced today that it has shipped the epic battle game, Iron Storm on PC in North America. Set amidst an extended 1st World War (still going strong in 1964), Iron Storm gives the gamer new weapons and modern technology to reap havoc on the Russo-Mongol tyrants.

Sony Online Entertainment Inc. announced today that EverQuest: The Planes of Power will be available in retail stores tomorrow. The Planes of Power introduces high-level EverQuest gamers to an arching storyline and takes players on an adventure of epic proportions with hundreds of powerful new weapons, spells and creatures, 20 action-packed zones and an increased level cap maximum to 65 allowing players to become more powerful than ever before.

More than 20 new aquatic creatures soon will have gamers nationwide glued to their PCs. The "Zoo Tycoon: Marine Mania" expansion pack hits store shelves this week as Microsoft Corp. announces that more than 1 million licensed units of its family-friendly "Zoo Tycoon" PC game have been sold. Since its debut in October 2001, "Zoo Tycoon" has reached top-selling* status on the software charts, and it continues to grow in popularity with players of all ages. Resident Evil Zero features two main characters: Rebecca, a rookie Raccoon City Police Officer who first appeared in the original Resident Evil, and Billy, a framed convict on the run. Midway Games Inc. announced today that Defender, an all-new 3-D version of the popular 1980s arcade classic, has shipped for the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system. Defender is scheduled to ship for the Xbox video game system from Microsoft, Nintendo GameCube and the Game Boy Advance on Nov. 4, 2002.

THQ Inc. today announced that "Toxic Grind," the first story-driven, mission-based BMX game, has shipped exclusively for the Xbox video game system from Microsoft. "Toxic Grind" immerses players in a completely unique, story-driven experience, where they must "ride for their life" as fictional BMX rider Jason Hayes. "Toxic Grind" is now available at major retail outlets nationwide.

Japan-based videogame publishing powerhouse Kemco and comic book giant DC Comics announced together that they will create a limited edition, two-part comic book that will serve as a prequel to the storyline of Kemco's upcoming action/adventure title, "Batman: Dark Tomorrow." The first of two collectible comic books will be included as a pack-in within top-tier platform-specific enthusiast publications, distributing over 1.4 million comic books nationwide.

The Elder Scrolls III: Tribunal, is an expansion pack for the critically acclaimed and multi-award winning RPG, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind for PC. Tribunal will introduce additional content and features, and adventures into the already staggering game world of Morrowind. The Elder Scrolls III: Tribunal will be released in Europe this November in an English language version, with localized French and German versions following in early 2003.

Telegraph UK reports that Eidos, the computer games designer, is in last-ditch talks with Sony to meet the November launch date of its latest Lara Croft game for the PlayStation 2. Delaying the high-profile launch - ahead of the vital Christmas trading period - would be a serious blow for Eidos. However, with just four weeks to go, it is understood that Eidos has yet to submit the game to Sony Computer Entertainment for approval. That process usually takes between three and four weeks. Even a week's delay could be damaging for Eidos. In the US, the Thanksgiving weekend of November 29 to 31 is a particularly important selling period.

The official site for the upcoming GameCube title, Mario Party 4, is now alive. The site includes screens, gameplay information and more. The game ships out October 21st.

The official Battlefield: 1942 web site has posted up another of their weekly updates concerning the upcoming 1.2 patch for Digital Illusions and Electronic Arts' best selling WWII multiplayer shooter. While there is still no word on a release date for the patch, they did say that improvements in the game's client prediction will have to wait for another patch down the road (thanks Homelan).

Codemasters has released a new patch for Prisoner of War, if you are running WinMe or Win98 then get this update off the Codemasters downloads page. It address a problem with the wrong language chosen by the launcher and a problem where the launcher may start minimized. There is also a Privateer's Bounty patch available, updating the game to v1.04.151. This upgrade addresses improves multiplayer stability, a couple of bugs, damaged system and long distance views of the models. A few weeks after the English patch, there is now a German patch for Ghost Recon, likewise updating this edition of the squad-based tactical shooter by Red Storm Entertainment to version 1.3. As before, this release adds a huge number of changes, including gameplay, graphics, AI, editor and multiplayer improvements and fixes.
