EA today announced its Q3 financial results ending Dec. 31, 2006. Net revenue for the 3rd quarter was $1.28 billion, up a mere 1% compared to last year's $1.27 billion, driven by Madden, but curtailed by higher next-gen development costs and acquisitions. In the conf call afterwards, EA revealed Spore and My Sims are coming to the NDS (in addition to the PC and Wii versions, respectively), and that White council is "on hold," not cancelled.

The French Parliament has approved a bill which would grant tax credits to video game developers for 20% of production costs, up to €3 million ($3.91 million) per year. Games would have to include "a cultural dimension," although it's unclear what that would entail.

Burger King reported higher Q2 earnings, mainly due to the 3.2 million King-themed Xbox 360 games that were sold at its restaurants this past quarter. Net income for Q2 was $38 million, compared with $27 million a year ago.

Ubisoft announced sales for the 3rd quarter of fiscal year 2006-07, which ended December 31, 2006. Revenue increase from €250M to €311M (24% increase), buouyed by the hot sales of Rainbow Six Vegas, Splinter Cell Double Agent, and Red Steel. The results revealed a Blazing Angels expansion (X360/PC), some new Wii (Driver, Turtles, PoP) and PC titles (Driver, RE 4), and the delayed release of Haze, pushed back to at the earliest April.

Xbox Live user REDRUM6622 claimed on the official Xbox forums that he has filed a class-action lawsuit against Microsoft because of the problems he and other users have experienced after performing the Fall System Update. He is demanding a jury trial, citing breach of contract, violation of consumer protection act (RCW 19.86), and negligence.
