Majesco Shuts Down L.A. Studio

Former Majesco Santa Monica artist Valerie Schoman revealed that Majesco has decided to shut down the Los Angeles, California-based studio. A few years back, Majesco found itself in a spat of financial trouble, but after some rigorous cutbacks and restructuring has been on the path to recovery, so it comes as a surprise to hear about the closure. The L.A. studio developed two NDS titles (one due soon) and was said to be working on its first Wii game (thanks superannuation).

'Furry Legends' (Wii) Going Multiplatform

In Furry Legends, a casual action and platform game, players take control of unique characters who are best described as a furry ball, each with its unique powers, allowing the player to roll, jump, bounce, attack and perform other various moves with their spherical character. Without going into specifics, Furry Legends developer Gamelion revealed it's coming to new platforms.

Nintendo added a VC, a NDSi, and one WiiWare titles to the Shop Channels. Nintendo owners with online access can redeem Points to download: PictureBook Games: Mr. Driller W (Wiiware), Pop+ Solo (NDSiWare), and Super Empire Strikes Back (VC).

'Commandos 4' Revealed

Pyro Studios, currently working on Planet 51, revealed that the Spanish studio will be working on a new installment in its popular Commandos franchise as soon as it wraps up the animated film-based action/adventure. While the first two titles were a big success, the 3rd one, making the move from strategy to 3d FPS, was not, so Pyro Studios has decided to go back to its roots and make Commandos 4 a real-time strategy game. No further details, nor a projected release date, were disclosed.

Advent Rising is a third-person, intergalactic action/adventure of epic proportions, akin to a fast-paced action movie where the player is swept up in an ever-evolving series of sequences and events. Originally developed by GlyphX Games, the game's designer Donald Mustard, now with Epic studio's Chair Entertainment, which is comprised of several former AR developers, would love to continue the original trilogy idea, but the IP is owned by Majesco.
