According to the latest magazine issue of EGM, Viva Pinata developers Rare might already be working on the next installment in the Pinata universe. Drawing from its past experience with Diddy Kong Racing, Viva PiƱata Kart would put the colorful garden animals on the Kartin racetrack. If rumors have any legitimacy to them, Viva Pinata Kart is tentatively scheduled for somewhere in 2007.

At a press conference during the Dragon Quest 20th anniversary event in Japan, Square Enix announced that it will release DragonQuest IX on the NDS. Developed by Level 5, Dragon Quest IX: Defender of the Stars is the first title on any Nintendo system since Dragon Quest VI, 10 years ago. Featuring WiFi support for four players in co-op, DQ IX is currently scheduled for released mid-2007 in Japan.

A recent SEC filing offers the first sign of live in quite a while from once famed publisher/developer Interplay, apparently getting ready to start production on a Fallout MMOG in January 2007 (thanks Blues). Set in the highly recognized Fallout post Nuclear Apocalyptic world giving consumers an ongoing virtual experience of today's life as if the cold war, which lasted for the best part of the second half of last century, had led to a nuclear disaster. The development budget is set for $75 million dollar and is scheduled to last until 2010, indicating approx when we should expect it in stores. Time will tell ...

Valve Start Guest Passes Closed Beta Phase

Valve announced that later this week it will start the closed beta for Guest Passes, a new feature that will allow owners of certain Steam-enabled games (purchased either via Steam or at retail) to send a friend limited-time trials for those games. Although the feature will be listed in the menu, it will not be active, but when this closed beta concludes, Valve will extend the Steam Guest Pass Beta to Day of Defeat: Source owners.
