Consumers in the UK and throughout Europe will soon see the appearance of new age ratings and symbols on computer and video games, whether bought at retail or accessed online. This will give parents, shoppers and online consumers added confidence that the content of the game, whether it is bought at a high street retail outlet, or accessed via the internet, is suitable for a specific age group. The development is significant in that it is the first time that any form of entertainment medium has come up with an age rating system that meets the varying cultural standards of different European countries.

Severance Are Working On A New Game

Mercurysteam Entertainment, the Madrid-based computer game developer, has just released its corporate website. The Projects section has some artwork posted related to MSE first project. MSE's first title, which name they have not unveiled yet, will be "a shaking 3D arcade with tons of action, humour and an awesome multiplayer component", tells Dario Halle, co-founder and lead programmer, and it's planned to release during 2004.

Now that the monsters of Monstropolis have learned the power of laughter, they're ready to have some fun in Disney/Pixar's Monsters, Inc. Bash Arena (working title) for GameCube. In the game, players compete as one of their beloved monsters in a unique "dodge ball-style" match set in movie-inspired stadium arenas filled with children ready to be entertained. With the use of special "laugh balls," each with their own slapstick shtick, players compete in a tournament to fill their laugh canisters first with children's laughter.
