A community post in the VUG forums reveals that Irrational (although its Australia division, not Boston as the original) is working on an expansion pack for SWAT 4. The yet untitled addon will feature seven new maps, missions (one in a warehouse with lots of sniper hideouts while you rescue people from an office bombing), new pistols and machine gune, but also long-range grenade launcher, sniper rifles (previously only for the squads' designated sharpshooter), night vision goggles, glow in the dark sticks, and 10-player coop. At long last, Vivendi has released the long awaited patch for Irrational's tactival FPS SWAT 4. This update brings your retail (US,UK, French and German) game to v1.1 which adds multiplayer versions of three single-player missions (Convenience Store, Hotel, and Jewelry Heist), added a mod tool for the games in the software dev kit, fixes for multiple issues, improved file checking to help prevent cheating. Earlier reports that Vivendi's FPS SWAT 4 was pushed back and delayed until October 2005 were incorrect. Vivendi sent out notice that this was done in error, and the police shooter sequel, under development at Irrational, is still on track for its April 2005 release date. The VU Games Store now also reflects that April 5th, 2005 date (thanks Bluesnews).
