Konami of America, Inc. announced today that World Soccer Winning Eleven 6 International (WE6) for the PS2 has shipped to retail outlets nationwide. Having sold over 2.4 million units in Europe and Japan since its debut in April 2002, the internationally celebrated WE6 (known as Pro Evolution Soccer in Europe) is poised to up the ante for soccer simulation supremacy in North America.

Winning Eleven 6 (aka Pro Evolution Soccer 2) boasts players benefiting from over 25 skill factors, including attacking nature, balance, stamina, strength and shot and pass accuracy, each of which endow the players with differing abilities and playing styles. The game's extensive 'Player Create' option also allows fans to recreate their favourite players for use in the game, determining their appearance and performance using the aforementioned attributes, while also highlighting a further 19 specific key skills and abilities. Videogame publisher Konami of America Inc. announced today that its popular Winning Eleven series (known in Europe as Pro Evolution Soccer) will be published for the first time in North America. European and Japanese versions of Winning Eleven have sold nearly 4 million units worldwide, making it the world’s best-selling soccer game for the PlayStation 2. In response to considerable demand from North American consumers, Konami intends to continue the series’ success with the launch of it latest installment, Winning Eleven 6, on the PlayStation 2 in March 2003.

Winning Eleven 6, the hugely successful football game developed by Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo, Inc hits Japanese stores today (Thursday, April 25th). The Tokyo-based team is now busy reworking the game for the European market, where it will be released through Konami of Europe as Pro Evolution Soccer 2 later this year.
