Midway Games Inc. announced today that Defender, an all-new 3-D version of the popular 1980s arcade classic, has shipped for the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system. Defender is scheduled to ship for the Xbox video game system from Microsoft, Nintendo GameCube and the Game Boy Advance on Nov. 4, 2002.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, is a single player lite-RPG where the player follows the storyline of The Fellowship of the Ring, the first volume of J.R.R. Tolkien's saga. Throughout the game, the player will have control over the Fellowship members, at times controlling up to nine characters at once. This title is considered a lite-RPG since it will streamline the usual number-crunching found in most RPG's and simplify it to a more action-oriented, quick-paced format. Combat is turn-based, like most RPG's, but will provide a default AI that will control character actions if the player so chooses.

Sammy Studios Inc. today announced a new sequel based on the powerhouse Guilty Gear anime fighting series, coming to PlayStation2 in Q1 2003. Guilty Gear X2 promises to deliver the next-generation of blistered thumbs, bringing players the fastest, most visually stunning 2D fighter on the PS2. Surf's up! Action sports fans can now ride the waves like a pro with the release of Activision, Inc.'s Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer, which is currently available at UK retail outlets. The game lets players join six-time world champion surfer, Kelly Slater and eight other top pros as they travel to 13 of the most popular and recognizable surf spots in the world in search of the perfect wave.

I can confirm that the release date has officialy been moved to Feb 03.

While any slippage is a huge dissapointment to those of you have have been waiting so long already, I really believe that moving the release date will allow us to make a much better product.

In all honesty, the game could of made it out in November. To do that though would have meant leaving out some great design ideas, we would have had to cut out bits of the game that were not functioning correctly, and the game would of gone out with some bugs.

Adding these extra 3 months to the development cycle can only benefit the quality of the game. The cool design stuff can be finished instead of getting cut, the bugs can be found and fixed, and ultimatly, the game can be given the polish that would have been missing if we were to ship in November.

Sunny Games has released Brixout XP - a fast-action non-violent game of skill and concentration for the entire family. This wonderful piece of software represents a fully three-dimensional twist on classic ball, paddle and bricks games such as Arkanoid and Breakout.
