Sony's previously announced
skype/voice chat update for the PSP is on hold after SCEJ's microphone did not meet Skype specification and failed to obtain certification. The feature was scheduled to be introduced in late January as part of a firmware update for PSP, instead SCEJ has decided to postpone the release of the microphone, and no new release date has been set.

Sony has rolled out new PlayStation Store content, starting with a few Playstation Eye titles (Tori-Emaki & Mesmerize: Trace for $1.99) and a Blast Factor Bundle ($12.99). The weekly Rock Band tracks are now also available (Last Train to Clarksville / The Monkees, All the Small Things / Blink-182, and Action / Sweet for $1.99) as well as two new circuits for MotorStorm (Eagle’s Nest and Diamondback Speedway, $2.99). Also available are playable demos for Disney;s Turok and EA's FIFA Street 3, if all else fails, there's plenty of trailers, and movie clips to watch.

A premature update on Xbox.com revealed what's in store for us the rest of the month with a triple dose of Oasis (Don't Look Back in Anger, Live Forever, Wonderwall) and a "Progressive Tracks" (Siva by Smashing Pumpkins, a cover of Rush's Working Man, and Ten Speed (Of God's Blood and Burial) as made famous by Coheed and Cambria).

In an
interview with Newsweek, Bungie writing director Joseph Staten reveals that Master Chief would be relegated to a more supporting role, because it would be too hard for a lead character whose face is always hidden by a helmet, and has mere one liners for dialogue, to carry the movie. Instead Master Chief was to serve as source of mystery, an anonymous problem solver for other characters to discuss and talk about, while they carried the movie.

While Supreme Commander: forged Alliance has only been out a few months, and an X360 version of the original due soon, it seems there is already a 2nd SupCom addon in the works. At the
CES 2008 GPG's Chris Taylor revealed that they are working on an expansion pack called The Experimentals, where it's an experimental unit only expansion pack for Supreme Commander. Just massive experimental units for all factions.

Philips today announced an alliance with Ubisoft to amBX-enable Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway and Far Cry 2. The agreement will also see an amBX patch being released for the original Far Cry. Further patches for existing Ubisoft games will also be released with the amBX-enabling of additional titles to be announced later.
