Making good on their word, 3D Realms has released the promised downloadable content for Human Head/Vulcan's sci-fi FPS, Prey. Xbox Live owners can now grab four new multiplayer maps (Gravity Labs, Space Oddity, Topillogical, and Tunnel Rat) and 5 new avatars (Becky, Elhuit, Elite, Hunter, Jen). And of course this is all for free ...

A little while back 3D Realms revealed that, apart from the already released patch, it was also working on additional content, new multiplayer skins (play as Jen, Elhuit, etc), and some new multiplayer maps. While 3D Realms won't commit to a release date beyond the "when it's done," we were told today that both the PC and X360 content will be free of charge.

As promised 3DRealms has released the first patch for Human Head's sci-fi FPS Prey. This update brings your retail game to v1.1 and is mainly tech/bug fix patch, there are no new game play elements in this update (nor are there any planned for the future).

3DRealms announced today that the previously mentioned v1.1 patch for Human Head's sci-fi FPS Prey is coming tomorrow at 9am PST (6pm Euro time). This is a tech/bug fix patch, there are no new game play elements in this update (nor are there any planned for the future). In an interview with
Next Generation, CEO Scott Miller revealed that 3D Realms, and maybe a 3rd party developer, are already working on the sequel to its 3D sci-fi FPS Prey. When asked what his company is currently working on, Scott replied "Prey 2, of course! We are addressing concerns about combat, as well as adding in more gameplay innovations."

While we already revealed a patch and downloadable content
a little while ago, Human Head provided some details. Both versions are getting a patch addressing various bug and crash fixes, but mainly multiplayer exploits, lag and server issues. Regarding downloadable content, both platforms will receive 4 new maps aimed at 2-4 players, and six new player characters (4 female and 2 Hunter characters.) Of course no release date was given, except for "hopefully" very, very soon. Read more for details ...

3DRealms' George Broussard has put up a message in the
community chat forum revealing that HumanHead and Venom are both working on a patch for their respective platforms, as well as the fact that new DM models and DM maps are scheduled. The PC patch is currently in testing, so, unless something major creeps up, should be released shortly.

By pre-ordering you will be able to start playing Prey within minutes of the release at 12:01 a.m. on 7/11/2006.
