Age of Empires III is set in 1500 A.D. and chronicles the Age of Discovery that started around the time that Columbus discovered the new world. The single player campaign follows American history up through 1850, and in multiplayer mode, you'll be able to choose from among eight different civilizations, and there will include free-for-all and team-vs-team matches for up to eight players. The demo includes single player skirmish mode and two missions in the single player campaign. In Skirmish mode you can play as the British or the Spanish empires in the New England and Texas maps.

EA announced today that it has shipped its hockey title, NHL 06, to retail stores. World of Warcraft Lead Producer Shane Dabiri has put up an updated battleplan looking ahead to what WoW players can expect in the coming months leading up to BlizzCon and the expansion announcement. Shane talks about adding mid-sized raid content, expanding current, and adding new, world events, PvP content and making it easier for lower level characters to advance in the PvP Honor System, improving underused talents for all classes, implementing is fee-based character transfers on the website, and closes off with a promise about soon coming details on the Hero class, and the WoW expansion at BlizzCon.

THQ today announced that Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War: Winter Assault has reached the gold master stage of development, is entering manufacturing, and is scheduled for retail September 19, 2005.

Atari today announced that Indigo Prophecy, a suspense-filled adventure video game, has gone gold and development is complete.  Known as Fahrenheit in Europe, Indigo Prophecy tells the story of a man whose destiny is irrevocably altered when he unwillingly commits a brutal murder. Through the use of branching storylines and multiple character perspectives, players embark on an immersive adventure on par with a Hollywood thriller. 

Early August Blizzard revealed it was closing is Blizzard North development studio, and today Castaway Entertainment announced that former Blizzard North studio lead Rick Seis has accepted the position of Technical Director and lead programmer for their current unannounced project.

While BFME was all land based, the sequel will also take the action on the sea, naval battles included, courtesy of an updated engine.
