Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick allows players to assume the role of Ash, the chainsaw-armed hero from the Evil Dead trilogy. Players will fend off hordes of Deadites with several weapons including the shovel, gatling gun, shotgun and chainsaw. Massive game environments include all new Evil Dead locations as players attempt to save the town of Dearborn from the influence of the Necromonicon ex Mortis – the Book of the Dead.

Sony Online Entertainment Inc. announced PlanetSide: Core Combat, the first expansion for its popular massively multiplayer online first-person action game, PlanetSide. PlanetSide launched on May 19, 2003 and has already attracted more than 60,000 subscribers. The expansion will focus on alien technology discovered deep in underground caverns, adding more vehicles, weapons and battlegrounds under the planet Auraxis. Gothic II just started appearing on shelves in the UK, not available in North America yet, but Piranha games does not rest and is hard at work on the Gothic II addon, supposebly named Night Of The Raven or maybe RavenNight. On top of that they are also working on a full fledge sequel Gothic III. German gamers can expect the Gothic II addon in stores early August, the rest of the world will most likely have to wait a while longer. In the meantime, check these new screens ...

Although not really a secret anymore, 'Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark' was officially announced today. Atari and BioWare Corp. are set to expand the award-winning "Neverwinter Nights," the best-selling, fantasy roleplaying game based in the "Forgotten Realms" world from Wizards of the Coast's classic "Dungeons & Dragons" game. Following the release of the first official expansion pack, "Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide" in June, "Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark" pits players in a battle to save the embattled city of Waterdeep from an ancient evil buried deep within the earth and stone of Undermountain. "Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark" is scheduled for release this November.

To help voice its upcoming space shooter, Battlestar Galactica, Vivendi Universal Games announced today an all-star cast of actor. The talent signed to lend voices to the highly-anticipated game includes Dirk Benedict and Richard Hatch, who starred as hotshot Viper pilots Starbuck and Apollo in the original television series, as well as Dwight Schultz, known for his roles as 'Howling Mad' Murdock on the A-Team and Lieutenant Barclay on Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Kristanna Loken, who plays the T-X in the theatrical release, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.

Microsoft Game Studios announced today that "Project Gotham Racing 2" for Xbox will be available in North America on November 18. In addition to the all-new Kudos ranking system, tons of hot cars and cities to explore and a massive list of authentic music tracks, "PGR2" also defines the Xbox Live experience. "PGR2" is built from the ground up for seamless online experiences in both Solo Play and Multiplayer modes. Players can get updated scores, scoreboard changes, Live Ghosts and challenges in real-time as they play.

Microsoft Corp. said on Friday it acquired the rights to the "High Heat" baseball video game franchise from bankrupt software publisher 3DO Co. The company did not immediately disclose the purchase price. 3DO's assets were sold at a bankruptcy auction in San Francisco on Thursday. When the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on May 28, it said it would try to sell its assets. Microsoft already has its own baseball game, "Inside Pitch," for its Xbox but game critics have long considered 3DO's "High Heat" as the best among numerous competitors.

The multi-platform game was developed by Beenox and published by Aspyr.
