VE: Is any part of the game scaled down for multiplayer, or is it essentially the same as the single player game?
Nothing is scaled down in the multiplayer game. It has different maps, but all the units, tech tree etc are the same as the single player game. As in the single player game, everyone starts of as the same neutral race, and depending on how they progress through the tech tree they end up Pagan, Imperial or Renaissance...

Nickelodeon today named THQ Inc. master interactive licensee for several of Nickelodeon leading properties. THQ now holds exclusive, worldwide interactive rights to publish games based on all existing and future individual Nickelodeon animated TV and movie properties targeting kids ages 6-11 on every game system through 2005.
