Paradox Interactive announced today that they have added yet another major strategy game title to their 2006 portfolio. Developed by MadMinute Games, Take Command: 2nd Manassas explores the titular 1862 battle of the American Civil War, which proved to be the pivotal engagement of the Northern Virginia Campaign.

When in October Eidos revealed its FPS Zero Tolerance: City Under Fire it seemed to be a new product, but then as it turned out it was in fact the now defunct Argonaut Games' Roll Call. On Nov. 18 2005 we reported that Eidos was getting sued for Copyright Infringement in North America and had to explain its case before the U.S. Patent Office as Zero Tolerance was a 1994 Megadrive game with that same name, from developer Technopop. As a result Zero Tolerance is now known as Urban Chaos : Riot Response.

Federal Court Deems Illinois Violent Video Game Law Unconstitutional

Back in May Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich introduced a bill to ban violent video games, which was then later approved and had to go in effect January 1st. On July 25, 2005, a lawsuit was filed challenging the law, claiming it violated the First Amendment guarantee of freedom of speech. Today, Federal District Judge Matthew F. Kennelly in Chicago, IL agreed with the plaintiffs and ruled that the video game restriction law is unconstitutional, and issued an order permanently enjoining the law's enforcement. Zero Tolerance For Eidos' Copyright Infringement

Recently Eidos announced its newest title Zero Tolerance : City Under Fire, which was previously known as Roll Call. As it turns out that name change wasn't a very good idea as back in 1994 there was a Megadrive game with that same name, from developer Technopop. Somebody forgot to do their homework and check with the registration, resulting in Eidos getting sued for Copyright Infringement in North America and will have to explain its case before the U.S. Patent Office. Whether this legal action will have an impact on the title's release date is not known, no Eidos representative could be reached for comment.
