by Rainier on Dec. 2, 2008 @ 8:22 a.m. PST

Another day, another batch of games shipped to stores. Instead of giving them all their own posts, we grouped them, and so far there are announcements for:

Prince of Persia (NDS/PS3/X360/PC)

Set in a land rooted in ancient Persian mythology, the warrior Prince finds himself caught in an epic battle between the primal forces of light and darkness that pits the God of Light, Ormazd, against his brother, Ahriman, the destructive God of Darkness. After witnessing the destruction of the legendary Tree of Life – an act which unleashes Ahriman's corrupted darkness onto the land – the Prince and his deadly companion, Elika, embark on a journey to heal the world from the evil Corruption and defeat Ahriman once and for all.

Led by the all-star team that previously created the Prince of Persia® Sands of Time trilogy, Prince of Persia has been in development at Ubisoft's Montreal studio for over three years. The video game opens an entirely new chapter in the Prince of Persia universe in addition to introducing a fresh illustrative art style, evolved combat system, open world structure and dynamic AI – most notably in the form of the Prince's powerful ally Elika.

"Prince of Persia is one of the most innovative and critically acclaimed franchises in video game history,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Ubisoft. "This new chapter will continue to set the standard for the action-adventure genre and is a definite must-own title this holiday season.”

Prince of Persia, rated "T” for Teen, is currently available on PS3 and X360 for $59.99, while the PC version will ship to stores on Dec. 9th ($49.99). Prince of Persia: The Fallen King, rated E for Everyone, is also available for $29.99.

Grand Theft Auto IV (PC)

“We are very proud to be releasing Grand Theft Auto IV for the PC,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “We have taken our time to ensure this version of the game is not just a quick port, but a perfectly tailored experience for the PC. We hope the PC gaming community appreciates all of the innovative features in the game. Grand Theft Auto began on the PC and we have tried very hard to ensure this version was worthy of that heritage.”

Developed by Rockstar Toronto in conjunction with series creator Rockstar North, the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV offers a wealth of new features, including 32-player multiplayer modes – expanded from 16 on the console versions of the game; a deep, sophisticated and easy-to-use video editor tool to capture and edit in-game footage; stunning, high-resolution graphics; and the all-new Independence FM radio station that allows players to add their own songs for a truly personalized and unique in-game music experience.

Eurogamer calls Grand Theft Auto IV on PC a “genuinely ground-breaking blockbuster in video game history.” According to popular gaming site, 1UP.com, “the upgraded visuals and improved multiplayer for what's already been hailed as the year's most significant game make this a PC version worth getting excited about -- really excited about.”

Grand Theft Auto IV for the PC is rated M for Mature by the ESRB, with an MSRP of $49.99.

Casper Scare School: Classroom Capers (NDS)

Casper Scare School: Classroom Capers for NDS is the second game for the Nintendo DS developed entirely by international games developer Nikitova Games (www.nikitovagames.com), whose lead development studio is based in Kiev, Ukraine.

Casper Scare School: Classroom Capers is based around the popular Casper the friendly ghost license that is loved by boys and girls in equal measure the world over, and specifically the movie “Casper Scare School”. It features beautifully drawn and animated graphics which really capture the character of nearly all of the teachers and spooky “children” that Casper shares the school with, such as Thatch the Vampire, Mantha the Zombie and Ra the Mummy. The game also includes a lot of the original tunes and speech from the film.

The simple but innovative, touch screen gameplay is easy to pick up and is divided into 24 increasingly difficult lessons in Science, History and Gym that Casper must pass in order to get the grades necessary to graduate from Scare School and win the game. Nikitova Games have done a great job in bringing to life this original game that was designed by award winning game designer Jon Hare.

Casper Scare School: Classroom Capers for NDS is aimed specifically at the under 12’s market and will surely be an ideal stocking filler for Christmas'08.

Mastertronic Group's Casper Scare School: Classroom Capers is currently available in European retail stores.
