Audiokinetic announced that its audio solution Wwise is now integrated with Epic's cross-platform Unreal Engine 3 game engine allowing developers and publishers licensing UE3 to easily integrate Wwise into their development pipeline.

Wwise is a complete audio pipeline solution that features the tight integration of an advanced audio authoring tool and a robust sound engine. Designed for next-generation platforms, Wwise aims to revolutionize the traditional game audio development process and allows users to audit, profile, and modify sounds in real-time within the game itself. Wwise is presently being used in the development of 85 titles, a significant percent of which are powered by UE3.

Bridging the comprehensive feature set of Wwise with Epic’s engine technology provides UE3 users with an unmatched set of creative tools. Furthermore, the integration combines Wwise’s powerful interface with the outstanding functionality of the Unreal Editor, presenting game developers with a complete and readily available development solution.

“Epic Games provides a leading technology in the industry,” said AndrĂ© Nadeau, President and CEO, Audiokinetic. “Being part of Epic’s Integrated Partners Program is an important stamp of approval for our products and our company. It will contribute to develop the Wwise user-base worldwide, allowing more and more developers to take advantage of Wwise to create increasingly immersive audio environments and offer awe-inspiring gameplay.”

“We work closely with middleware providers to ensure the Unreal Engine's ease of use with other leading tools and technology," said Dr. Michael Capps, president of Epic Games. "This integration will cut down on programming time and effort for our licensees who are using Wwise, and Epic is supporting Audiokinetic directly to ensure the package is kept up to date with all the latest upgrades to Unreal Engine 3.”
