'Call of Juarez: The Cartel' (ALL) Might Not Make It In Mexico

Call of Juarez: The Cartel is an FPS that brings the lawlessness of the Old West into present day. You'll embark on a bloody road trip from Los Angeles to Juarez, Mexico immersing yourself in a gritty plot with interesting characters and a wide variety of game play options.

Politicians in Chihuahua, Mexico are not happy with Ubisoft's upcoming shooter Call of Juarez: The Cartel, as Chihuahua congressman Ricardo Boone is filing a petition to ban the game. Ciudad Juarez has been a hotbed for drug related violence for years now, with at least 6,000 people murdered the past two years, making it one of the deadliest in the world. "It is true there is a serious crime situation, which we are not trying to hide," Boone Salmon said. "But we also should not expose children to this kind of scenarios so that they are going to grow up with this kind of image and lack of values."

As a first person shooter with an immersive and mature story, players can expect to embark on a journey like no other – one that will take them from the heart of modern day Los Angeles, California to Juarez, Mexico.

“Call of Juarez: The Cartel is an action-packed shooter game with a strong story, interesting characters and a wide variety of gameplay options,” said Adam Novickas, director of marketing at Ubisoft. “The game will bring the best elements of the Wild West into modern times with a very gritty and relevant plot.”
