'Call Of Duty: Black Ops II' (ALL) Supports 3D Gaming On LG TVs - Screens

by Rainier on Oct. 12, 2012 @ 3:51 p.m. PDT

Set in the year 2025, Call of Duty: Black Ops II propels players into global conflict featuring advanced weaponry, robotics and drone warfare in a new Cold War scenario whose seeds are being sown in today's headlines.

Featuring new graphics technology that drives stunning cinematic action, Treyarch’s new creation delivers an epic single-player campaign including branching storylines and non-linear missions, a re-imagined multiplayer and the most diverse and biggest zombies experience ever.

Beginning launch night, as part of a special nationwide 3D promotion with select retailers, gamers will receive a discount from LG when purchasing both a copy of the game and one of LG's CINEMA 3D TVs. The retail promotion, which runs from Nov. 13 to Nov. 21, rolls out at over 25 national and regional retailers, totaling more than 2,000 electronics stores across the country. Additionally, beginning today, fans can see an exclusive 3D trailer of Call of Duty: Black Ops II at select Best Buy retail outlets nationwide.

"LG is excited to be a part of this historic launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops II to bring 3D gaming to life," said James Fishler, senior vice president, marketing and go-to-market operations, LG Electronics USA, Inc. "From the intensity and cinematic visuals, to the attention to detail and heart-pounding gameplay, Call of Duty: Black Ops II in 3D further legitimizes the 3D gaming movement, and we're proud to help the amazing fanbase of the Call of Duty community enjoy it on LG CINEMA 3D TVs."

Fishler said LG CINEMA 3D TVs offer an extremely comfortable 3D gaming experience. LG CINEMA 3D utilizes polarized technology, with lightweight, inexpensive and shutter-free glasses similar to what consumers experience in the theater. For ultimate comfort, consumers can customize the 3D effect to their preference with 3D Depth Control. Most LG CINEMA 3D TVs come with six pairs of 3D eyewear.

"As game developers and storytellers, we want to take advantage of every opportunity to immerse players in the Call of Duty: Black Ops II experience and LG's 3D technology helps to do just that," said Mark Lamia, studio head of developer Treyarch. "We are thrilled to team up with LG, which shares this same passion to bring gamers to the edge of their seats with realistic visuals and heart-pounding gameplay. And with LG Dual Play, for the first time ever, two players can each have their own full-screen experience while playing Multiplayer or Zombies split-screen."

For gamers who love playing split-screen with friends or foes, but hate splitting the screen, these LG TVs offer the solution with a feature called "Dual Play," which allows gamers to see two completely different full-screen images on the same screen, at the same time.

Dual Play works by applying LG's CINEMA 3D technology to a 2D split-screen game; the effect is two 2D images projected simultaneously. Dual Play glasses (required and sold separately) come with either two left- or two right-eye lenses, so instead of combining those images, the lenses filter only one image to each user. The result is the magnificence of the full screen for both players. Gamers have no fear, Dual Play works with most current gaming systems or even older consoles as long as it is a split-screen game.
