'Tekken Tag Tournament 2' (ALL) Gets Date, Collector's Edition, Pre-Order Incentive

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is coming to consoles with all of the action seen in the arcades along with unique content and features that won't be seen anywhere else, making for the most feature-rich title in the Tekken franchise.

With the largest player roster in Tekken history, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will feature more than 50 characters with expanded fight arsenals and move sets to do battle in new stages set in different countries from around the world. In addition to the tag-based battle that Tekken pioneered, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will feature both one-on-one fighting and solo fighter vs. a tag-team battle, upending the current fighting game standards and making the game accessible for fans and newcomers alike.

In Pair Play mode, up to four players can each control a character in the ultimate team battle, while in the all new Fight Lab mode, players can customize the moves and appearance of new training character, Combot. Players that clear the innovative Fight Lab will have mastered the complexities of Tekken and own their own customized Combot.

The original Tekken Tag Tournament created the entire tag-based fighting genre when it released in arcades in 1999, and the highly-anticipated sequel will bring unique features to the fighting game community with innovative online functionality that will be revealed in greater detail during E3 in June.

European Tekken fans will also have access to the “We are Tekken” edition of Tekken Tag Tournament 2, a collector’s edition packed in an exclusive metal case including the following content: the original soundtrack of the game and an additional music CD with remixes, an artbook with more than 200 pages, a behind the scene video with Harada San and other special guests giving you their best Tokyo tips.

Fans who pre-order the game at select retailers can look forward to playing with one or more of these additional DLC characters: Michelle Chang, Angel, Kunimitsu or Ancient Ogre immediately at launch.

On day-one of Tekken Tag Tournament 2’s launch, fans that placed their pre-orders with Amazon®.com and Best Buy will gain access to the Michelle Chang & Angel characters, while players that placed their pre-orders through GameStop will have exclusive access to fighters Kunimitsu and Ancient Ogre in addition to Michelle Chang and Angel.

“Pleasing our fans is of paramount importance to the Tekkendevelopment team, therefore we are giving players full access to the wide array of fighters in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 at no additional cost,” said Katsuhiro Harada, Tekken Project Director at Namco Bandai Games Inc. “The roster of playable characters in any fighting game is an essential factor in contributing to a player’s overall experience. By offering DLC characters at no additional cost to players, we are able to deliver a pure Tekken experience to all of our fans.”

“Namco Bandai Games Inc. is working closely with retailers to secure exciting pre-order opportunities for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and deliver premium bonus character content to Tekken fans on launch day,” said Carlson Choi, Vice President of Marketing, Namco Bandai Games America Inc. “We’re excited to unveil our exclusive pre-order partners for these well-known Tekken characters and hope to reveal even more exciting content in the near future.”
