'Need for Speed Payback' (ALL) Speedcross Update Will Add New Cars, Event, Wheel Support - Trailer

by Rainier on Dec. 15, 2017 @ 11:25 a.m. PST

Need for Speed Payback is an explosive action/adventure driving game filled with intense heist missions, high stakes car battles, epic cop pursuits and jaw dropping set pieces.

Your car is at the center of everything you do. Craft unique rides with deeper performance and visual customization than ever before. From intense missions to high stakes car battles to jaw dropping set piece moments, Need for Speed Payback delivers an edge-of-your-seat, action-driving fantasy.

It's blockbuster gameplay never before seen from the series, fueled by a gripping story of betrayal and revenge. With Need for Speed Payback, it's no longer just about being the first to cross the finish line or racing to prove to be the best, it's about building the perfect ride, getting behind the wheel and playing out an action driving fantasy.

Set in the underworld of Fortune Valley, players will drive as three distinct characters reunited by a quest for vengeance against The House, a nefarious cartel that rules the city's casinos, criminals and cops. They will take on a variety of challenges and events as Tyler, the Racer; Mac, the Showman; and Jess, the Wheelman to earn the respect of the underground. Featuring the deepest customization from the series, players can truly craft a personalized and unique ride, or spend hours finding and tuning an abandoned derelict into a supercar. They can then push their cars to the limit and raise the stakes by betting on their own performance, where they can either multiply their winnings or risk losing it all.

While driving around Fortune Valley over the past month and a half, you may have noticed cars in Street Leagues that haven’t been available to own yet. Each week following the Dec. 19 update, starting with the Mazda RX-7 Spirit R, a new car will become available at random locations in the Need for Speed Payback world. Find the car, escape the cops, and you’ll get to keep the car after purchasing from a dealership. Other vehicles to look forward to in the weeks to come are the Volvo 242DL, Volvo Amazon P130, Plymouth Barracuda, Nissan Skyline 2000 GTR and the BMW M3 Evolution II E30.

In the Speedcross event, take control of Mac and go up against drivers from all over the world to work towards your ultimate goal of beating the reigning world champion, The Barracuda. Go big and focus on scoring as many points as possible in Drift Zones, Jumps, Speedtraps, and Smackables. With 16 new events across four zones, there’s plenty of road to conquer in your ultimate vehicle.

The Speedcross content update also includes a new section to Speedlists, Drift Runs. Fifteen different drift runs will be taking place on the streets, off-road, and in both day and night settings.

And finally, the long-awaited Steering Wheel support will be coming to all platforms on Logitech 01-05 wheels.

The all-new BMW M5 will make its debut in Need for Speed Payback, marking the first time BMW has revealed a car through a videogame partnership, unveiling the new in-game BMW M5 at gamescom. The new BMW M5 builds on the traditional concept of a luxurious four-door business sedan by appealing to drivers with a taste for high speed and adrenaline. Need for Speed Payback players will be among the first to experience the new M xDrive all-wheel drive as they tear through the city streets and diverse landscape of Fortune Valley this Fall.

The M5 takes the BMW M-series into new territory, with 441 kW/600 hp, peak torque of 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) and 10.5 l/100 km [26.9 mpg imp] fuel consumption combined/ 241 g/km CO2 emissions combined, which promise supreme propulsive power and formidable performance. The new M xDrive developed by BMW M GmbH is the most engaging all-wheel-drive system yet to grace the high-performance segment and will be on display across various terrains in Need for Speed Payback.

For drivers who want to get the extra edge over the competition, the Need for Speed Payback Deluxe Edition gives players up to three days of early access to the full game, along with exclusive customization items such as the Deluxe Edition license plate and NOS color, in-game discounts, Rep bonuses, everything the Platinum Car Pack has to offer, and more.

Players can also get into the action before launch through EA Access and Origin Access, where members can play for up to 10 hours starting Thursday, November 2nd with the EA Access and Origin Access Play First Trial. EA Access and Origin Access members receive a 10% discount when they purchase a digital version of Need for Speed Payback.

Need for Speed Payback is currently be available worldwide for Xbox One, PS4, and Origin for PC.
