'Last Day Of June' (ALL) Free On Epic Games Store, 'Overcooked!' Next Week

by Rainier on June 27, 2019 @ 9:42 a.m. PDT

Visualizing a bittersweet story told through a welcoming, painterly world, the role-playing exploration game showcases the beauty of life and love, but also the contradictions of loss.

From an all-star collaboration of creators including acclaimed director Massimo Guarini (Murasaki Baby, Shadow of the Damned, Naruto: Rise of a Ninja), award-winning musician and record producer Steven Wilson, and Jess Cope (animator on Tim Burton’s “Frankenweenie” and director for Metallica’s “Here Comes Revenge” music video), Last Day of June blends multiple genres of art to offer a meaningful and creative experience that will resonate with a broad audience of players.

Once Last Day of June, the current free game on the Epic Games Store, has run its course, it will be up to Overcooked!, which will gratis starting on July 4 until July 11, 2019.

The Onion Kingdom is in danger and only the finest cooking can save it. Players will journey through a campaign mode featuring a whole host of cruel and unusual kitchens on their quest to become master chefs capable of conquering an ancient edible evil which plagues the land!

Traverse through the campaign solo or engage in classic, chaotic couch co-op for up to four players. You’ll have to cook a range of different dishes and work together to become the ultimate cooking team! You can even go head to head in nine versus competitive levels for either two or four players.

Overcooked was designed from the ground up to be a co-operative experience. While some co-op games devolve into a race between players to hoover up loot or a charge to find the next enemy to kill, Overcooked is a game where teamwork is the most important factor. As the orders come in player will need to decide how best to divide the tasks between themselves, and will need to communicate in order to keep on top of the chaos. The controls are simple and setting so familiar that players of all ages and abilities can take part together, but only a well-oiled team with good co-ordination will be able to best each increasingly challenging kitchen.

Key Features:

  • An epic co-operative drop-in/drop-out campaign which sees you travelling across the Onion Kingdom, cooking food in increasingly bizarre locations
  • Unlockable competitive kitchens which allows players to go head-to-head against each other
  • A host of unlockable playable characters to discover
  • Share-a-pad: 2 players can share one gamepad to play the game together (4 player gaming on only 2 controllers!)
  • 28 standard campaign levels plus an additional introductory level and final boss to conquer!
  • Local co-op play for 1 to 4 players across all campaign levels!
  • 9 versus levels to go head to head locally with either 2 or 4 players
  • A range of different and unusual kitchens to play across with different recipes to master, cook soup, burritos, burgers and fish and chips
  • 11 achievements to cook up
Overcooked! is currently available on Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Last Day of June is a poignant single-player journey that progresses participants from a viewer joining Carl and June on what begins as a magical outing to their favorite spot, to a character deeply intertwined in the narrative, as they try to unlock the sequence of events that could save the day – and June’s life. In this cinematic experience, players will solve emotionally challenging puzzles in an attempt to turn back time, compelling them to ask themselves “What would you do to save the one you love?”
