'The Sinking City' (ALL) Gets Nintendo Switch Date - Trailer

by Rainier on Sept. 5, 2019 @ 7:00 a.m. PDT

The Sinking City is a game of investigation and mystery taking place in a fictional open world inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft.

“We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of the infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far.”
— H.P. Lovecraft, “The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories”

The player steps into the shoes of a 1920s private investigator who finds himself in the city of Oakmont Massachusetts, New England. A city suffering from unprecedented floods  of clearly supernatural origins. A city trembling on the brink of madness. The city, a wide open-world oozing with insanity, is being taken over by an unfathomable supernatural force, and it's up to the player to find out what has taken control of the city... and the minds of the people within it.

The Sinking City on Nintendo Switch is not just a standard port. The team have worked on multiple improvements and tweaks based on player feedback.

We initially wanted to do a physical release – we know lots of players prefer these – but we were eventually forced to put this off for now. We didn’t want to take too long to release the game on the Nintendo Switch, but going into the logistics and distribution of physical editions would push the release back by months. Frogwares is self-publishing this version but we’re not a big company and don’t have  the resources to handle such a complex process ourselves. So, we’re focusing on the digital release first and might release a physical edition later. -Sergey Oganesyan, Communications Manager

The team have also taken extra care to make the game available in multiple languages with full VO and text in English, French, German and Russian.

Text support is available in Spanish, Italian, Czech, Polish, Ukrainian, Turkish, Arabic, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese.

“We did our best to optimize the game and ensure it runs at a stable 30 frames throughout. We also improved combat a bit to have more weight and feel. Weapons now have new gunshot sounds, improved recoil and new visual effects. We also did our best to improve the game from people's feedback. So things like crowd behavior and pedestrian AI has been tweaked along with all around additional levels of polishing and bug fixing.” - Serge Chervonnyi, Game Producer Manager

Frogwares have included a selection of timed pre-order bonuses for the Nintendo Switch edition while also putting together a Deluxe Edition with additional side missions. The standard version will retail for $49.99 while the Deluxe Edition is set for $64.99.

Can you survive this beleaguered town and untangle the mysteries responsible for its tragic situation or will you be driven beyond madness yourself?
