'Session' (ALL) Early Access Update Adds New Filmer Mode, NYC Landmark & More - Trailer

by Rainier on March 19, 2020 @ 11:39 a.m. PDT

Session: Skate Sim is a skateboarding sim entirely focused on creativity and freedom of expression, nothing else!

Inspired by the golden era of skateboarding, the early 90s and early 2000, Session's primary goal is to make you experience what skateboarding really is; an incredible sport where there are no other goals other than expressing your creativity and achieving success through hard work, perseverance and bits of madness for no one else other than yourself.

Sporting dual stick controls that mirror the movement of each foot, executing tricks feels as intuitive as it would in your local park, serving up the most authentic-feeling skateboarding in a video game. Included in the demo is a tutorial and outdoor skatepark to get you started. Will it be tough at first? Yeah. Will you fall face-first down a flight of stairs? Who hasn’t? It’s all about the journey, so when you land that first kickflip out of a grind, you’ll feel invincible!

So, what’s Session all about? Just like skateboarding IRL, it’s about the freedom to express yourself. Whether you’re all about perfecting that one elusive move, or have a sick line planned out for your next tape, you set your own goals in Session. Progression simply comes from honing your street chops. But what are skills if you can’t show them off to the rest of the world? With Session, creā-ture offers up the tools needed to create and share your tightest content with skaters around the world.

Whether you have no idea what goofy and mongo mean, or have a laser flip or two under your belt, Session’s here to remind you why you fell in love with the sport or give you a reason to fall for the first time (again, literally).

Session’s new content update introduces several new gameplay features as part of its ongoing effort to deliver the most authentic skateboarding experience possible, including:

  • A true-to-life recreation of the legendary NYC Pyramid Ledges in Manhattan’s Financial District.
  • Over 40 new tricks, including Impossibles, late flips and more.
  • Experience ‘board feel’ like never before with full-board controls that let players customize every aspect of their tricks and how they skate, from flick speed and angles to catch timing and more.
  • Local Filmer Mode: This new mode lets a second player join remotely as the crew’s official filmer, able to create an incredibly wide range of shots with a robust and easy-to-use set of tools. Get creative with framing, zooming and angles to make your buddy’s footage look better than ever!
  • More customization assets from Heroin Skateboards, Roger Skate co. and Schlaudie Skate co.!
  • Lighting enhancements & level optimization.
  • And bug fixes!

Session is currently available on PC via Steam Early Access for $19.99.

Key Features:

  • No scoring system: Focus on what skateboard really is! If a handrail inspires you to do a backside lipslide, then so be it!
  • Dual stick controls: Each stick controls a foot to replicate authentic and intuitive skateboarding motions.
  • Filmer mode: Go online with friends, be the filmer and grab the gnarliest, crispiest footy you can, the way you want!
  • Play a movie: VHS-like checkpoint system. Rewind, Forward, Skip, Pause, Play your scene, replay and re-skate them until you’re proud of it.
  • Skate and destroy: Embrace street skating as you read your environment and exploit it in any way you can imagine. Cities aren’t built for skaters, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be skated.

Session is expected to officially launch for Xbox One and PC (Steam) in 2020.
