'Plants vs. Zombies: Battle For Neighborville' (ALL) Luck o’ the Zombie Festival Starts Today

by Rainier on March 2, 2020 @ 7:35 a.m. PST

Plants vs Zombies: Battle For Neighborville is the newest game in the PvZ franchise, where you blast zombies, plants and characters across an animated PvZ landscape.

Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville welcomes players to Neighborville, a suburban region where the clash between flora and undead is always flourishing. PopCap is launching the next title in the beloved Plants vs. Zombies™ franchise with a whole new way to play ahead of launch.

Featuring over-the-top action that fans of previous Plants vs. Zombies shooter titles have come to know and love, players can jump down into Giddy Park for light multiplayer battles or use the social board to interact with other players and group up. Players will unravel the threats of three free-roam regions, including the familiar central location of Neighborville Town Center, as well as adventuring through the outer edges of Neighborville in the hot and dusty Mount Steep, and the lush and strange Weirding Woods regions.

At the core of Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville is the game’s emphasis on thrilling multiplayer gameplay. Players can battle it out with 20 fully customizable character classes, including returning favorites like Peashooter and Chomper, along with some fresh new faces such as Night Cap, a master of the shadows, and the funky disco queen Electric Slide. The character roster also includes a Team Play class for each faction, Oak and Acorn, and Space Cadet. Additionally, players can join forces and kick some grass in split screen couch co-op and online co-op across every mode, whether it is battling through flourishing free-roam regions or jumping into battle in six different multiplayer modes. The fun doesn't stop there as players can then partake in Festivals after the game’s October launch to unlock new seasonal rewards.

This month in Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville, players will discover the brand new Wizard Zombie character amidst pots of gold, leprechaun hat balloons and more as things kick-off in the latest Battle for Neighborville festival: Luck o’ the Zombie.

Looking for some gold at the end of the rainbow? This month Battle for Neighborville has something magical – the new Wizard Zombie character is available at the end of the Prize Map beginning today! Also, players can earn the rare Citron 5000 costume at the midway point, and the Wizard’s Legendary Wishbreaker costume once 100% of this month’s prizes are unlocked.

Well, bowl me over with a celestial space chunk – we’ve found a new zombie! The mystical, magical Wizard Zombie is joining the horde, after having been uncovered recently during renovations at Zomboss HQ. While digging out space for yet another room of buff-looking Dr. Zomboss statues, an ancient chamber of half-eaten picture books was discovered. Oh, and the Wizard was in there, too. Strangely, no one had bothered to check the area even though Wizard had been muttering to himself, casting spells, and concocting potions in there for hundreds of years.

Wizard Zombies are curmudgeonly old coots who shamble around in their patchwork robes – and now you can put them on your squad! Starting March 2, earn Wizard when you work your way through a single path to the end of the Luck o’ the Zombie Festival Prize Map! Starting in April, you can unlock Wizard for 500K coins.

While you might be surprised to find out that the hapless zombie Wizard is actually an extremely powerful magic user, no one is more surprised than they are. Each time they cast a spell, they’re blown away by their own abilities. Like a kid at a magic show, they’re overcome with delight and excitement, clapping their hands and bouncing on their toes. If they keep the magic coming, they get increasingly excited, casting spell after spell. It’d be cute if it wasn’t so dangerous.

In addition to the magical abilities Wizard wields as a solo character, he can also ride on the heads of his allies in Co-Star mode, which opens up unique strategies for your squad. Here’s everything he can do:

Solo Abilities:

  • Primary Weapon: Orbracadorbra – Hold [Fire] to charge your staff and release to cast a damaging aura.
  • Ability 1: Zee-lixir – Throw a potion that temporarily makes allies immortal and stops enemy jumping and sprinting.
  • Ability 2: Spell Disaster – Slam the ground with your staff to summon magical missiles that chase and damage nearby enemies.
  • Ability 3: Co-Star – Hover above an ally as a star in an orb to provide extra firepower and grant them armor.

Co-Star Abilities:

  • Special: Starz Align – When in Co-Star mode, face the same direction as your zombie buddy to activate powerful buffs! Shoot homing projectiles at a faster rate, and spot enemies through obstacles in front of you.
  • Primary Weapon: Shooting Star – Launch a rapid-cast ball of magicky energy with explosive coverage.
  • Ability 1: (Same as above)
  • Ability 2: Spell Disaster – Summon magical missiles that chase and damage nearby enemies. When Starz Align is active, missiles also chase distant enemies in front of you.
  • Ability 3: Hasty Hexit – Eject from a teammate’s head like hair off a balding man.

Remember, Wizard Zombie will be available in the upcoming Luck o’ the Zombie Prize Map, starting March 2. So, prep those Prize Bulbs and get ready to add some magic to your squad! If you’re not able to earn the Wizard in the Luck o’ the Zombie Prize Map this March, don’t fret! You’ll still be able to unlock him starting in April for 500K coins.

Plants vs. Zombies: Battle For Neighborville is currently available for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
