'Tales of Arise' (ALL) Delayed Until 2021

by Rainier on June 25, 2020 @ 2:23 p.m. PDT

Tales Of Arise is the latest chapter in the popular Tales Of JRPG franchise bringing new storylines, gameplay dynamics, and worlds for players to explore.

Tales of Arise takes place in a solar system containing the two neighboring planets of Dahna and Rena. The inhabitants of Dahna have always paid reverence to their planetary neighbors on Rena a planet they can clearly see in their sky as a land of the righteous and divine. For the people of Dahna, legends and lore about Rena and its inhabitants have been handed down for countless generations, and through time, have become facts in their minds that have actually masked a cruel reality for the people of Dahna.

For 300 years, the people of Rena have ruled over Dahna, pillaging the planet of its resources and stripping its people of their dignity and freedom. Tales of Arise begins with two people, born on different worlds, each longing to change their fate and create a new future for themselves and perhaps their people.

Featuring an original cast of characters, a dramatic storyline, dynamic combat, breath-taking environments, with some classic Tales Of elements included, Tales of Arise marks a new beginning for the famed JRPG franchise.

The Tales of Arise development team at Bandai Namco Entertainment announces that due to the ambitious nature of the project, Tales of Arise will be moving out of the 2020 launch window.

The Tales of Arise team would like to extend their appreciation and thank our media partners and Tales of fans for their patience and continued support for the title. Tales of Arise is an ambitious project and is the latest chapter within one of BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment’s most storied franchises, therefore the decision has been made to invest more time on its development to create the best Tales of experience possible.

Direct remarks from Tales of Arise producer, Yusuke Tomizawa:

"We have made the decision to delay the launch timing of “Tales of Arise”, the latest title in the “Tales of” series.

The goal for Tales of Arise is to provide a familiar but innovative gameplay experience to fans of the series, while pushing the technical envelope to deliver a high level of graphical quality to impress both long-time players and those who have never played a Tales of game.  Development on the title has move steadily forward in 2020 as we overcame challenges along the way.

While COVID-19 has affected some aspects of development, we’ve done our best to adapt to the situation and have implemented remote development capabilities for our team.

However, to achieve the quality and provide the gorgeous experience we envision for our players, we will need more time to realize that vision and therefore we decided to delay the launch timing for Tales of Arise.

A new launch window update will be provided once we have more details to share.

In the meantime, the determination of our development team has not weakened. It is always darkest before the dawn, as illustrated in the image below. We hope you will join us as a bring a new Tales of adventure to light."

More updates will be shared once the team is ready to announce a new launch window.

Tales of Arise is slated for launch in 2021 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
