'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare' (ALL) Season 4 Brings 200-Player Warzone, New Sniping Capabilities and More

by Rainier on June 29, 2020 @ 10:46 a.m. PDT

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare engulfs fans in an incredibly raw, gritty, provocative narrative that brings unrivaled intensity and shines a light on the changing nature of modern war.

Prepare to go dark, Modern Warfare is back!

The stakes have never been higher as players take on the role of lethal Tier One operators in a heart-racing saga that will affect the global balance of power.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will make its return in a powerful experience reimagined from the ground-up, engulfing players in a modern-day conflict, where split-second decisions could affect the global balance of power.

In the gripping and dramatic single-player story campaign, players will immerse themselves in a visceral narrative that shines a light on the changing nature of modern war. Alongside a cast of international special forces and freedom fighters, fans take the role of tier one operators in a saga that will affect the global balance of power. Additionally, picking up where the Campaign ends is the cooperative Special Ops mode where players can team up in strike-teams of four. Special Ops advances the overarching Modern Warfare lore with multiple ways to play co-op, including Operations, the largest and most involved experience with multi-phased objectives, and the more curated Classic Special Ops, to test your performance with weapons, munitions and other tools.

And the story doesn’t end there.

In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, players will be thrust into an immersive narrative spanning the entire game. Players can experience the ultimate online playground with classic multiplayer or squad-up and play cooperatively in a collection of elite operations, accessible to all skill levels.

Business is about to pick up in Verdansk.

Launching tonight at 11 p.m. Pacific Time, Season Four of Modern Warfare, including Warzone, will receive an update that will fundamentally change the battle in Verdansk.

With this update, Verdansk will now be able to hold up to 200 players in Battle Royale Quads in Warzone. That means 50 Quads of Operators fighting each other and the encroaching circle collapse.

Players who are travelling and fighting their way through the Warzone can now be on the lookout for Supply Run Contracts. Upon activation, players and their squad will be directed to a nearby Buy Station. Reach it within the time limit to get a discount on Buy Station purchases.

Modern Warfare players will have a new locale to deploy to: Cheshire Park. Located in urban London, England, Cheshire Park is a picturesque garden and conservatory where Operators will battle from door to door or through the central flora-filled area. Also included in the update is a new multiplayer mode: Team Defender. Introduced nearly a decade ago, Team Defender returns to Modern Warfare as a fast-paced objective game mode that puts a twist on the traditional Capture the Flag formula.

Warzone players will also have a new piece of gear to look forward to - the Spotter Scope. This re-usable scope allows players to scan the environment around them and mark enemies without being detected. The update also introduces a new weapon to both Modern Warfare and Warzone - the Rytec AMR Sniper Rifle.

Please note that the Season Four Reloaded update will have a download size of approximately 22-36 GB for owners of the full version of Modern Warfare. Console owners must install a secondary download of approximately 3.5GB, then reboot the game to access Multiplayer, if desired. A reminder, console players can choose also to uninstall/remove other data packs (e.g. Special Operations), if no longer needed for a smaller overall file size. For detailed information on uninstalling/removing other data packs, read this article.

With a complete weapon overhaul and the most choices in Call of Duty history, players will be able to outfit their multiplayer operators for every combat encounter, with unprecedented customization and modifiability in the new Gunsmith system. Modern Warfare features cutting-edge visuals, authentic sound design, with realistic recoil and weapon ballistics throughout the game. In addition, gameplay mechanics, including bullet penetration, gun mounting, door breaching and night vision multiplayer gameplay maps featuring night vision goggles (NVGs), allow for an amazing tactical experience.

Activision also confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will have no season pass, and that it will feature cross play between Xbox One, PS4 and PC platforms.
