'The Smurfs - Mission Vileaf' Gets Delayed On Consoles, Xbox Series X|S In 2022 With Extra Content

The Smurfs - Mission Vileaf is a 3D action-adventure game inspired by Peyo’s comic books and will feature a brand-new story.

The lovely blue characters are coming back for some smurfing action!

Alone or with friends, gamers will be able to dive in this exclusive adventure alongside the most iconic characters of this IP. To be as faithful as possible to the original material, players can expect tons of humor, thrills, friendship, suspense and of course, a lot of action.

In this new 3D adventure-platformer, the Smurfs will once again have to thwart evil Gargamel’s schemes to save their village… and the whole forest!

In his dark laboratory, the evil wizard Gargamel has discovered a formula allowing him to create a wicked plant, called Vileaf. This plant produces “Viletrap” seeds, which can attract Smurfs and imprison them in vegetal traps! But these Viletrap plants are also a great danger for the forest, as they are highly toxic, especially for the sarsaparilla fields!

In order to fix this dreadful situation, Papa Smurf decided to ask some of his fellow Smurfs to help him find the ingredients for an antidote powerful enough to eradicate the Vileaf once and for all and heal the plants afflicted by this curse. An ace Smurf team, featuring Hefty, Smurfette, Brainy and Chef, goes on an adventure to complete this mission. All of these 4 characters are playable over the course of the game.

Dear players,

We wanted to share an update regarding The Smurfs - Mission Vileaf's release date.

The game will be available on PC (Steam & GOG) on October 26 - but we're moving the release date on PlayStation 4, Xbox One consoles and Nintendo Switch to November 5 in Europe, November 16 in North America and the Australian/New Zealand release is set to November 20.

In order to offer the best next-gen experience to our fans, PlayStation 5 versions will be available later this year. Xbox Series X|S versions are expected for 2022, coming with exclusive content.

In addition, due to logistical issues, Collection Editions for The Smurfs - Mission Vileaf and Marsupilami: Hoobadventure on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions had to be cancelled. The Switch version remains available for pre-order.

You can still pre-order The Smurfs - Mission Vileaf Smurftastic Edition and Marsupilami: Hoobadventure - Tropical Edition on all platforms.

Thank you for understanding.

The Microids Team

In order to help them in their quest, our heroes can rely upon a very handy tool, the Smurfizer, a revolutionary invention from Handy Smurf. The Smurfizer allows the Smurfs to get rid of the foes they encounter, as well as heal the plants afflicted by the Vileaf. This special gear will facilitate our heroes’ exploration journey across the game’s different environments, whether it be in the forest, the swamps or even in the most dangerous place of all: Gargamel’s laboratory!

Created 60 years ago, “The Smurfs” has marked multiple generations thanks to its fascinating universe combining diverse personalities thrown in amazing situations. Adapted in comics, animated series and even movies, the Smurfs IP is renown way past the European borders reaching an outstanding 95% awareness level worldwide!

The Smurfs - Mission Vileaf is coming to PC on October 26, 2021, followed by PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on November 16 (Nov. 5 in Europe), while the PS5 is planned for later in 2021 and Xbox Series X|S in 2022.
