Inspired by Studio Ghibli and impressionist artwork, Out Of Line is a hand-painted children’s book brought to life. The title depicts the adventures of a young man named San who must evade searchlights and mechanical claws in order to escape The Factory’s assembly line and realize his true identity. Dive into a story set in a mysterious world that is revealed through multiple chapters.
Out Of Line’s mechanics revolve around San’s spear, which can be strategically placed to climb walls, activate switches, operate platforms, halt machinery and more. Puzzles will encourage players to experiment and learn through trial and error. As San collects memory fragments and solves increasingly challenging obstacles, players will experience emotional moments that will make them question whether the protagonist was better off remaining where he started.
Out Of Line’s narrative is told through its beautiful hand painted artistic landscape which points to relevant topics such as oppression, isolation, courage, optimism and hope. Players can expect to mull over philosophical depictions in between puzzle segments, especially as they relate to human existentialism in the age of technology.
Though the world may seem mysterious at first glance, players will steadily find themselves relating to San and his experiences as each chapter unfolds.
